Pete Kane Obituary

Pete Kane
June 10, 1921 - Feb. 18, 2013
Resident of San Jose
Pete Kane passed away peacefully in his sleep at home surrounded by family on February 18, 2013.
D. Peter (Pete) Kane, (born David Peter Ivor Kane), was born in Richmond, Surrey, England on June 10, 1921. Pete's father, Stanley Kane, passed away when Pete was about six years old. Following his father's death, Pete moved to the U.S. in 1929, grew up in the Los Angeles area, and became a naturalized citizen on May 15, 1939.
Pete served in the U.S. Navy as a radio technician during World War II for two years, including active duty in the Philippines.
Pete graduated from the University of Arizona as an electrical engineer in 1950, and worked for about twenty electronics, computer, and aerospace companies during his career. He retired from Ford Aerospace, Singer-Link, and Lockheed Missiles and Space Company.
Pete is survived by his loving wife, Pat Kane, his daughter, Kathie Gutierrez, two sons, Jeff and Stan Kane, two cousins, David Rose and David McWilliams, and two granddaughters, Hannie Vargas and Sherry Peacock. In addition, he has a step-family consisting of two step-daughters, one step-son, seven step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandsons.
Although Pete was born in a Jewish family, he had been a member of Unity Community Church in San Jose, California and a member of Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church, where he served in various positions, including deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Pete's interests included square dancing, motor-home travel, camping, hiking, bridge, and pinochle. He is fondly remembered for his kind heart, great humor, and gentle, down-to-earth and honest spirit. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
Family requests donation to Hospice of the Valley in lieu of flowers. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 2, 2013, at Unity Community Church, 2682 Union Avenue, San Jose, Ca 95124, (408) 377-7555.
