My deepest sympathy goes out to the Beck family. Lt.Col. Beck was my Platoon Leader,2nd Plt.MCI Company,Marine Barracks. Peter was a great Marine leader and I was very fortunate to have him as a friend. It was a pleasure to work for him while in the Registrar Section at MCI. Semper Fi Jim Meskan

Honestly, I last saw Peter and Cathie when I was 3 years old. I still remember Peter as a nice person who appeared warm and friendly. I remember feeling at ease in their home (even though I was messing with their dog and it bit me lol) and that was 34 years ago! I'm sorry I didn't stay in touch. My condolences to your whole family. I'm know he will be truly missed.

My deepest condolences to the Beck family. Peter was a good Marine. I served with Peter at Marine Barracks, 8th & I, Washington DC from 1960 until 1962. I connected with Peter again about six months ago, and Peter told me that if we were ever on the West Coast, that we had a place to stay during our visit. Sure wish we had had time to take him up on that offer. We could have done a lot of reminiscing. Will certainly miss Peter.

Peter was a fine man and a dental patient of mine for years. He had given me several books along with his latest biography. I will miss him very much

I just posted a note and now read his obituary in the Chronicle. He has requested donations be sent to a wonderful charity - The Wounded Warrior, Semper Fi Fund. Outstanding Peter! Semper Fidelis!

Reading Peter's book, I was stunned to learn I grew up in several of the same neighborhoods, in fact just a few blocks away from him, around the same time he was in those neighborhoods. I regret not knowing this sooner (my fault) to be able to reminisce with him. He truly led a full life and it seems society should miss this person for his knowledge and accomplishments. I certainly will and he has reminded me how short life is.
