Richard is survived by his daughters Susan Palermo of Aptos, Carol Butler of Santa Cruz, and Nancy Branton of Las Vegas, and his grandchildren Colleen and Alisa Williams, Michael Gamez, Richard Butler, Allison and John Branton and three great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Jonathan, and Christian. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, sister Florence Oliver, brother Joseph Benevento, brother-in-law and golf buddy George Oliver and partner Loretta Ostrom.
Mr. Benevento was a Veteran of WWII, serving as a Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army. Upon his return home, he settled his young family in a home in Willow Glen and continued his education, graduating from San Jose State in 1948. He then went into business as a public accountant from his home and later moved to Malone Road until his retirement in 1983.
He was a member and past president of the California Society of Accountants and a long time member of the Sons of the Golden West. When he retired he relocated to Modesto and joined the Spring Creek Golf and Country Club where he enjoyed one of his favorite past times. Richard would go anywhere for a round of golf with his buddies, always coming home with stories of their games and fun. He won a few trophies over his years of golfing even enjoying the ultimate ""hole-in-one"" twice.
He loved spending time with his family, sharing in our accomplishments, reminiscing about his experiences through the years and sitting down to a good home cooked meal. Richard moved back to Santa Clara County in 2001 to be closer to his family. He enjoyed a long and full life with his family and will be missed greatly by all who were fortunate to know him.
