Robert Heiser Obituary

Robert (Bob) Heiser
Mar 13, 1958 - Feb 16, 2015
Gilroy, California
Robert Joseph Heiser (Bob) was born on March 13, 1958 at the Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. He left this life to join his parents, Mary and Joseph Heiser, on Feb 16, 2015. Growing up the sixth of ten children, Bob developed a wonderful sense of humor and a love of family.
He attended St. Francis Cabrini and Leigh High School in San Jose, where he was a stand-out basketball player. Bob built a successful sales career that included 14 years with Aspect Communications where he last served as regional vice president of foundation account sales. He also volunteered as site coordinator for the Gilroy distribution center of Second Harvest Food Bank.
Bob was happiest surrounded by his family – the daughters he adored, his precious grandchildren, his siblings and their spouses and his many nieces and nephews. Bob and his four brothers spent many weekends working on the family property by day, enjoying hot dogs on the beach for dinner, and playing cards late into the night. Bob loved games of all kinds, the company of his friends and family, good music and good beer.
An avid SF Giants fan and season ticket holder, Bob spent many happy hours watching his favorite team and loved taking his grandchildren, his daughters and his friends to the park. He was kind, generous, and loving and would help anyone who asked for his advice, guidance or assistance. Deeply loved by his large, extended family and the friends he held close, he will be missed.
Bob is survived by his three daughters, Valerie Heiser, her children Jocelyn, JR, Logan and Bobby and their father, Jason, of San Martin; Sandy Paladino, her husband Joey and their children Kaila and John of Pace, FL; and Sarah Spurgeon and her husband Travis of Raeford, NC.
He also leaves behind his brothers Joe, Bill, Richard and Chris Heiser, their spouses and children, his sisters, Maggie Givlin, Kathy Finnigan, Nora Propersi, Nancy Williams and Susan Heiser, their spouses and children, and many cousins and extended family members.
A celebration of his life will be held at Habing Funeral Home (129 Fourth Street, Gilroy) Thursday, Feb 26 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Green Beret Foundation (www.greenberetfoundation.org).

Our thoughts and prayers have been with Bob's family since hearing this news. Bob's passion, competitiveness and love of life were remembered by wife Liz and I from a work-related rewards trip to the Dominican Republic.

While competing with Bob in a golf match, he was so determined to win. And as every hole progressed and his lead increased, he demanded his partner to "blow it up" during their fist pump. The force of the fist pump increased so much that by the 18th hole I was worried that his partner would no longer have a hand left!

Loved it and loved and will miss Bob.

Bob was not simply a kind and generous person, he was a great leader, mentor, loved his family, was passionate about life, and just a wonderful person. He made a difference in my career, but he always took a moment to care about my life and family. He was a gentle giant with the warmest of hearts. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, former co-workers. He will be missed greatly, by everyone who had the honor to know him.
