Samuel Nicolopulos Obituary

Samuel James Nicolopulos

July 27, 1927- Dec. 27, 2011

Resident of San Carlos

Our beloved husband and father went home to heaven Tuesday morning after a long battle with heart complications. He leaves behind his adored wife Bette, sons Steve & Craig, their wives Darlene & Ann Louise, four grandchildren Gina, Suzanne, Jake, and Paige, great-grandson Paul, as well as nieces and nephews. As a Physical Educator and Coach, Sam mentored, motivated, and nurtured the youth of the Peninsula for 39 years at Carlmont High School, San Carlos High School, and Canada College. During his retirement, he volunteered fourteen years his time and talents as an assistant football coach at Woodside High School, up until his last season in 2011. Sam enjoyed family time, travel, studying, writing, and coaching. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Sam's beloved Woodside High School Football program, at 199 Churchill Ave. Woodside, CA 94062, or to your favorite charity. Private family services have been held. Crippen & Flynn

Sam nicolopulos had a significant effect on me as a member of his sc high wrestling team 63-65. His praise of me one certain friday after a meet against woodside made all the difference and i have used this as an example to others. I was not able to wrestle for sam at csm and i often regret this but work and academics paid off for me im the long haul. He was one of those special men you dont run across often in life i remain loyal to coach sam. Tim johnston, pharm. D. M. D. CCD
