Satoru Tanaka Obituary

Satoru "Satch" Tanaka
May 15, 1932 - May 4, 2019
Milpitas
Satch Tanaka, 86 years, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, May 4th. His high spirit, tremendous curiosity and energy will be missed.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Tanaka, 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Satch was firstborn to Juichi and Hisako Tanaka in Sacramento, California, where he grew with his younger brother and two sisters.
He left his hometown in 1949, and joined the US Navy where he served during the Korean War. Leaving the service, he married the love of his life in 1955. Energetic and ambitious, he obtained his high school diploma and two master's degrees at night while working hard and raising a young family by day. His diligence was rewarded by a life-long and fulfilling career in electrical engineering in Silicon Valley garnering a great many friends and colleagues along the way.
Satch enjoyed life. In the early active years, he could be found skin diving, sailing, camping and running in the San Bruno mountains before jogging was a thing. He enjoyed working around the house and spending time with his children. In more recent years, Satch's mind remained inquisitive and curious as he dove into books on history, language, and religion. Throughout his life, his greatest happiness was when he was surrounded by family and friends. We miss him deeply.
A memorial service will be held in Satch's honor on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at 3:00pm at Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Boulevard, Fremont, CA 94538.
