Steve...From the moment we walked into Renegades, you made Thomas and I feel welcomed. We had just moved back to Houston when we got the email from Luis about your passing. Though we didn't know each other very long, I feel like I could call you my friend and I will miss you. Thank you for your warmth and the kisses on my "bald beautiful head". Though we will miss you here, heaven is a better place since you are there.
All my love.

Lovely Steve. Your smile and laughter were always so welcoming. We all knew that if we needed a place to go, and you were working at the bar - we had a caring friend to brighten our day. We were all so fortunate to have you in our lives. You are missed.

A song (Too Soon To Say Goodbye) came to mind when I ran into someone tonight who told me Steve had passed away. I hadn't seen Steve since I moved to San Francisco three years ago but I remember him fondly from Renegades. He was such a sweet and funny guy and I remember, in particular, him talking about spending time with his mother. They must've had a very special connection. Steve, the world is a little colder place without you here.

I am saddened today and the days to follow because of your loss. I remember when we all met for the first time like it was yesterday, the original SJL’s. There were a core group of us that grew up together. Even though we have lost touch in the past years. You always hold a very important part in my life during those formative years. I can still see your giant smile on your face and hear that distinct laugh that was so infectious. I will always think of you whenever I hear Rick Ashley’s “Never Gonna Give You UP” and that cute little dance move you used to do. Thank you for all the memories, I will always hold you in my hart.

Steve our # 1 Jr. Rebels fan...You are going to be missed so much...all the times we've laughed and your excellent sense of humor. Your BIG SMILE every time we walked through that door with your #13 jersey on asking how we did. You are loved so much by myself and many more. The memories will last forever and you will always hold a special place in my heart.

Steve, Steve, Steve... How is it possible that you could leave us so soon in your life? You were always so cool, so funny, and so friendly to everyone. You have been a solid friend to so many, including me... and you always maintained a positive attitude and outlook.
BARBARA: we probably don't have to tell you how special Steve was to so many of us in the community, but I hope you know how proud Steve was of you. No matter how many times I offered to bring Steve lunch at work on the weekends, he turned it down because he knew you would be there to bring him what he needed.
All we can say is that we share in your loss, but we do know that this is especially difficult for you.
Steve brought so much to us in so many ways in so many places...
thanks to you for raising such a great kid and sharing him with us.
We will miss him greatly.

You are one of the funniest people I know. I got your silly humor and you got mine. Thats why we became best friends. For a while we were insepreatable. Our paths later split and we each found different people to fill our lives. Even though we havent seen or talked for years, I still believe that you knew, like I knew, we were still best friends in our hearts. I have a million memories for which i thank you for. My heart now has another hole in it. I love & miss you.
