Tom was an inspiration to me early in my career with his elevated position at EPRI, his drive to get correct technical answers, and his friendly humility. Although most of my contact with Tom was through project review meetings and conferences, he remained as approachable as a host at a back yard bar-b-que. My condolences to his family as they mourn his early passing. He will truly be missed.

I had lost track of Tom after he left EPRI and did not know he was in poor health. He was such a dynamic person who lived and breathed turbines and EPRI for so many years. His level of knowledge and impact on the power generation market will never be replaced. My sympathies to his family and to all those who will feel the loss of a great engineer and human being. God Bless you Tom.

Tom will be known in all of our minds as a vary knowleadgable Turbine Engineer. In our hearts he'll be known for his kindness and dedication to the advancement of STG issues within the power industry. It's not simply enough to say that Tom will be missed, because there's no way that we can replace a man of his caliber.

I consider it a blessing to have known him for the last fifteen years.

I was saddened to hear of Tom's passing. Although I did not work with him day-to-day, we discussed many issues related to steam turbine repair and I had the pleasure of working with him on some projects. Our condolences to his family.

I am very saddened by Tom's much too early death. Tom was a leading light at EPRI. He was an engineer's engineer. He was also a pleasure to be with at the Gas Turbine Group pizza lunches at Ramona's. We will all miss him.

For those of us that call ourselves steam turbine engineers, Tom McCloskey will long be remembered for all of his hard work and innovative contributions towards a more thorough understanding of the many complex issues we face everyday. Certainly, the two volume publication "Turbine Steam Path Damage: Theory and Practice", that he coauthored while at EPRI, holds pride of place on many of our bookshelves.

More so, though, his many friends and colleagues on the ASME steam turbine committee will miss his helpful, lively and willing participation along with his kindly mentoring at our meetings, technical sessions and social events. Tom, an ASME Fellow and a former winner of the prestigious George Westinghouse Gold Medal, was a big part of the ASME Power scene for many years, among other things serving on the Executive Committee, as Chairman of the Turbine Committee and as a Steam Turbine Course Instructor.

Our deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayers go out to Tom's family members and his many close friends around the world.

Tom will be missed by his many colleagues in the steam turbine community. During his years at EPRI, he directed many influential projects that addressed critical industry needs. I’ll remember him as an engineer who strongly promoted research, and understood the associated risks and benefits. Through his vision and ability to get many diverse groups together in solving problems, he has truly left his mark in this industry.

As one of Tom's many colleagues over the years at EPRI, we valued him highly as a friend and prominent technical contributor to the world of electric power technologgy. Tom regularly attended our Friday Pizza Lunches at Ramona's with the "Gas Turbine Gang," with many happy times for all. Tom and I frequently shared the half-hour long Express Bus Rides to and from work at EPRI -- Our continuing dialogue made the trip fly by, lifted our spirit at the beginning of each day, and tempered our thoughts as evening brought it to a close. We miss Tom very much and trust his life's endeavors are well remembered by all.

Vaya con Dios, Tom.

Tom joined our company after his long career at EPRI where he was a world recognized expert in his field. He was a brilliant engineer who contributed enormously to the advancement of turbine technology. Even more important, Tom was a kind and caring person. It saddened us all to see his health decline. Those at Aptech are lucky to have known and worked with Tom and we will miss him. Our thoughts and sympathies to his family.

Tom was my friend and I will miss him. He was an excellent engineer and person who will be sorely missed by many of us who worked with him over the years. His efforts to develop technology dealing with analysis of blade failures will be used for many years in the future.

Tom McCloskey was one of the individuals who may genuinely claim that he made a significant contribution to the industry he dedicated his professional life to. His publications will remain a legacy, and for his friends at TTI, a daily reminder of the loss his passing has brought to us. His family has much to be proud of. We express our deepest regrets.
