Heidi Jo McDermid
Heidi Jo McDermid, 56, of Eveleth passed away Friday, February 2, 2024, at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth surrounded by her family.
She was born on April 24, 1967, in Virginia to Bert and Olga (Suihkonen) McDermid and graduated from the Mt. Iron High School in 1985 and attended UMD.
Heidi worked as a bartender in Las Vegas and at the Coates Hotel in Virginia; and also was an office manager for a few local businesses.
She enjoyed playing softball, basketball and was a diehard Minnesota Vikings fan and Minnesota Wild fan.
Heidi's passion in life was spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her father Bert McDermid of Virginia, three siblings, Scott (Laurie) McDermid, Christine (Bradford Saxhaug) Jones and Terrence (Maribella) McDermid; nieces and nephews, Adam (Stacy) McDermid, Philip (Stephanie) McDermid, Scotty McDermid and Jaime (Jennifer) McDermid; Samantha (Michael) Irish, Jessica (Patrick) Mitsch, William (Lindsey) Jones and Alexandra (Carter Thome) Saxhaug; Jennifer McDermid, Joshua (Laura) McDermid, Gabrielle (Nicholas Melard) McDermid, and Matthew McDermid; 19 great nieces and nephews, Kaius, Kira, Kinsley, Caden, Chase, Paityn, Hadlee, Hayden, Logan, Eliza, Brady, Camden, Scarlett, Teagan, Callista, Jonathan, Isabel, Celera, Arnel; her extended family; dear friends at Sue's Penalty Box and numerous close friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and her beloved canines, Gracie, Lucy and Simon.
A special thanks to the staff at St. Mary's Hospital and Chaplain Gary for their kindness and compassion they gave our Heidi.
Per Heidi's request there will be a private inurnment at Greenwood Cemetery in Virginia at a later date.
Arrangements are by the Landmark Funeral Home in Virginia.
