Kyle Maki Obituary

Kyle Richard Maki, 63, of Virginia, MN passed away Friday, May 19, 2023 , in Essentia Health Miller-Dwan Medical Center in Duluth with his sister and brother by his side, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer.

Kyle was born on December 30, 1959, to Richard and Sandra Maki in Chisholm, MN. He was a graduate of Chisholm High School and was a longtime resident of Virginia.

In remembering Kyle, we acknowledge his unique spirit and value he brought to the lives around him. His quieter approach to life reminds us that there are many ways to navigate this world, and each path carries its own significance.

Kyle kept mementos and sentimental notes from those he loved and cared for in a brief case that he carried with him regularly. Those who knew Kyle recognize his thoughtful nature and appreciate the authenticity he brought to their interactions.

Survivors include his son Seth; two daughters, Liza (Jeremy) Donat and Paige; one sister, Julie (Steve) Sellars, brother Ted (Jean) Sellars; mother Sandra Sellars; several grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Richard Maki; stepfather Theodore Sellars; and niece Tearainy Rupp.
