What terrible tragedy to die so young. My children grew up with Zack. I remember Zack liked my daughter. I told her, that if he was like his father, he would be a keeper. I saw the way he truly loved and respected his wife and the way he protected and spent time with his family. He was like the dream man.

Dave was a great man and I loved to be around him every chance I got. His independence, humor and tendency to be outspoken was something I will always remember. Four years ago I did not know many people in the U.S. but Dave and Patty's hospitality was something that I will always appreciate and cherish forever. My deep condolences to Patty and Jesse; Zack, you know you will always have a good friend by your side and I will visit, hang out, and light up a fire for old times sake; for Dave. You will come to mind any time I stumble over a Ted Nugent song. Rest in peace Dave, I will always be thankful to you and your family.

I have riden my motorcycle several times since Dave's passing, and I seem to think of him alot, I think of times we would ride to different locations just for the pleasure of riding. I wish I could of been in Emmett on a few more occasions and been able to ride with you. I am sure some way you will be riding with me on my many trips ( even if my wife is with me ). I honestly can't find the words to describe the heart felt pain I have for your wife & 2 children. It will not be the same going to Emmett to see my brother without you there. You will always have a spot in my heart and I will think of you when I get on the motorcycle and have the wind in my face and me free.
Miss you Buddy

Dave was one-of-a-kind; if you knew him, you either liked him or you hated him, there was no in between. As a general rule, if you were a politician or a person responsible to the public, and you did not perform your duties, Dave was there to put you in line. Maybe it was fishing from the hood of his car to highlight the enormity of Emmett’s pothole problem, or driving through town with a statement written on his car, Dave let you know what you were doing wrong, or right. We need people like Dave to keep the powers in check, but unfortunately, there does not appear to be anyone like him left, and that is a shame. Dave will be missed by all, regardless of their opinion of him, for the value he brought to our community. He was a good friend, and from all I hear, a fantastic father and husband. Good-bye Dave, rest in peace.

Dave and I had a lot of adventures in the 25 plus years I have known him. They were always fun times but not to serious. One night about 4 years ago he was helping me on my race car, I told him my wife and I were going to have a baby. Dave looked up and congratulated me. He was the only friend to do that. Him and Patty were about the first ones to come see my son in the hospital. That was when I seen the real Dave. I never told him how much that meant to me. I'll never forget you my Brother, Eric

I have always considered Dave one of my great friends, eventhough our friendship started with him trying to punch me in the face. He was frustrated at me for playing a practical joke on him. Since that time we have enjoyed many good times together; racing him in his 1970 Challenger at Grudge nights at Firebird Raceway, road trips to concerts, and "laying rubber". Many great times were shared with Dave. I loved his personality and I never questioned our friendship. I was a better person because of the way he treated me. And eventhough I moved away to Canada 25 years ago, I would always stop in at the body shop to catch up on the latest every time I was in town. It was a friendship that meant the world to me. Dave, I will miss you. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time. Thank you for the memories.

Zack and Jessie,
Your dad was an amazing man! I had the honor of meeting him through my dad, during cub scouts. I helped my dad Rudy, with Zack's troop and it was so fun to watch Dave and my dad compete through their boys' activities. Durby car races were good, but the cake auctions were the best. Zack your dad was determined to buy the cake you 2 had made together and one year my dad kept betting against Dave and got him up there in the hundreds, he had your back always, and will forever continue.
Dave also taught me how to be the "rebel" when my dad ran for sheriff, he showed me how to get under the "opposing sides skin" and it was such a great experience laughing at the outcomes, and the effect we as a team had on them, memories I am grateful for!
Zack and Jessie, hang in here and find peace. Your dad will be forever with you in everything you do, smiling and cheering you on every step of the way like he did while he was here. May you find peace and understanding. Foever in my thoughts!

Dave was one of the best people I have ever had the privalege of knowing. I have known this family since I was born, and I truly consider them my Family. Dave may be gone, but he will truly never be forgotten. Dave and my Uncle Johnny were like brothers, and were like an unstoppable team. Zack and I will continue that legacy forever! To Patty: Stay strong, I love you. To Jesse: Chin Up! I love you. To Zack, my true brother: I will never leave you bro, I will always will be here. To laugh with you, to Cry, or just to shoot the breaze. I love you Brother. And Finally To Dave: I love you, and will miss you. I leave you with a quote that Dave loved, and will forever remind me of Him. "My acts are not vengance, revenge is not a valid motive, it is an emotional response. No, not Vengance...Punishment!"

To Dave...you were one of my most favorite people all through school and that has never changed. I feel so blessed and honored to have had you in my life even after we graduated and moved on with our own lives. You raised 2 beautiful children....children who have touched the lives of my boys in a huge way. I miss your smile and your laugh and your wicked ways! You touched my life in a way that has changed me deeply.
Patty, Zack & Jesse...I love you all and pray peace and blessing on you. I know Dave will be with you always in your hearts. Thank you for sharing his life with us.

I grew up with Dave. We spent hour after hour swimming, riding bikes, and playing as kids do. We talked of what we wanted in the future; cars, great adventures and family. Dave knew the kind of husband and father he was going to be very early in life. We can clearly see he was.
Later we built/ raced cars, did the auto shop boogie and enjoyed life as teenagers do. As we continued to grow older we lost touch as “grown ups” tend to do.
After the funeral of a friend of ours I got back in touch with Dave and had an amazing time. Very little had changed we were still good friends, still had the same drives, desires, “need for speed” and loved our families.
Dave left an eternal impression on everyone he met. We are all better because David was in our lives.
Thank you Dave.
Patty, Zack and Jesse I’m sorry you’re hurting now. We instinctively know that the relationships we form here; continue. When you meet again very little will have changed, you will still be family, still have the same drives and desires and that deep abiding tender love you have is still there and will be.

Dave was our friend! We shared lot's of stories and lot's of laughs together. Dave would have done anything for you, he was that kind of person. Alot of people misunderstood him, but if you knew the Dave we knew, you wouldn't have thought that. The thing that impressed us most were the values he taught his children. They are the most well behaved and mannered kids you will ever be around. Never an unkind word spoken from them. Our prayers are with his kids! They have lost a father who was very close to them. They did everything together! We will miss you Dave and will never forget our friendship with you!
