Robert Driscoll Obituary

Robert "Bruce" Driscoll
July 21, 1950 - April 9, 2021
Our hearts are heavy as we grieve the loss of Bruce Driscoll who lost his battle with cancer on April 9, 2021. He was born in Emmett, Idaho on July 21, 1950.
Bruce graduated from Emmett High School with the class of 1969. He joined the Navy and served aboard the USS Somers DDG-34 as an electronics technician. Upon his discharge he joined his Dad in the well drilling business in Emmett where he was also an EMT. He later drove long haul truck in the Northwest.
Going on fishing trips to Alaska with his Dad, brother Tony, and friend Roy Lane was something he looked forward to. He enjoyed fishing locally with his best friend, Preston Prawitz and deer hunting with his niece, Angela Black. Bruce would never miss the homemade ice cream and desserts at the Sweet Ice Cream Socials and especially loved Janice Lane's sugar cookies. He had interesting and fun times with all the foreign exchange students he hosted in his home and had a great time at the USS Somers Reunion every year. Bruce knew he was lucky to have such wonderful neighbors.
Family and friends were very important to him. He was the kind of person who was there to help whenever it was needed. He lost his sight and suffered for many years from cancer caused by exposure to Agent Orange in Viet Nam. He was a fighter to the very end and will be missed dearly.
Bruce is survived by the love of his life, Fifi Nella; his beloved wife, Marcia; stepdaughter, Elyse; his sweet, sweet, sister, Diane and brother-in-law, Dick Green; brothers-in-law, Jerry Tanner and Johnny Miller; sisters-in-law Judy Lowrey, Chris and Harry Hrenda, Jane Homer and Robby Williams; many nieces and nephews; his brothers of the heart, Chuck Rolland and Ron Clements; his sister of the heart, Tammi Waters; his very special friend, Max Resnik; his extended family, Tom and Jen Driscoll, Bill and Gina Kerbein, Sandi and Arron Qualls and all the grandkids.
He will join his parents, Ernie and Frances Driscoll; brother, Tony Driscoll; sisters, Judy Driscoll and Vicki Tanner; nephew, Aaron Green; sisters-in-law, Joy Garber, Sharon Fortner and Lorri Miller at the party they're planning in heaven.
Per Bruce's request, there will be no services held. A donation to your favorite charity in his name is appreciated. The family offers special thanks to his doctors and nurses at the VA and the St. Alphonsus Cancer Center; Horizon Hospice workers Wendy and Becky; and especially to his sisters-in-law, Judy and Chris.
"Death is no more than passing from one room into another. But there's a difference for me, you know. Because in that other room I shall be able to see." Helen Keller

I served with Bruce on the USS Somers DDG-34 as a Radar Electronics Technician. The Radar and Communication Electrics Technicians worked together to maintain the communication transceivers, radars, radar repeaters (equipment showing the radar sweeps), and a myriad of other electronics equipment. I will always remember Bruce as a great guy. None better.

Bruce was always there to lend a helping hand to whoever was in need. He was a quiet sweet caring person who made the World a better place.
