Albert D'Amato Obituary

Albert A. D'Amato SPENCER Albert A. D'Amato, 85, of Spencer, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at St. Francis Nursing Home, 101 Plantation St., Worcester. Mr. D'Amato was born in Shrewsbury, the son of Palmerino and A. Lillian (Corazzini) D'Amato. He graduated from Major Howard W. Beal Memorial High School in 1940. He had a long career with the Metropolitan Life Ins. Co., winning their "President's Award" in recognition of "Outstanding Sales and Service." During that time, the family moved to Boston and eventually settled in Framingham. After retiring, he moved onto the Waltham Savings Bank where he became a member of the SBLI President's Club in 1986, selling in excess of $5,000,000 worth of life insurance for them. He was a 45-year member of the Knights of Columbus. In 1993, he and Beatrice moved back home to Spencer to be close to both their families. He loved gardening, the Red Sox, the Patriots and his family. He will be greatly missed. He was the beloved husband of the late Beatrice (Bercume) D'Amato, his wife of 62 years; beloved father of Paul G. D'Amato and his fiancee, Marina Re, of New York City and Andrea L. D'Amato and her longtime companion, Rose Gordon, of Taos, N.M. He was a loving grandfather of Nandita D'Amato, also of New Mexico. He leaves his brother, Henry D'Amato of Shrewsbury; his sister, Marge Yovanovich and her husband, Michael, of Waterloo, Canada; his sister, Patricia Arsenault of Grafton, and his sister-in-law, Lorraine D'Amato of East Brookfield. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Arthur D'Amato (Lorraine's husband), in 2007. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, at 11 a.m., in the J. Henri Morin & Son Funeral Home, 23 Maple Terrace, Spencer. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
