I never played for Coach Espanet and never attended MHS. I went to St. Mary HS and played for a other great coach, Albert "Chick" Sayles. From across the field I witnessed the respect the MHS team had for their coach and the respect he gave to his players. I lived in Medway and played in the Babe Ruth league. Coach Espanet umpired some of those games. We would exchange greetings and have short conversations as I came up to bat. One of my favorite ways to get on base was to push a bunt toward 3rd base. I recall the 1st game Coach umpired I was standing with the bat on my shoulder waiting for the pitcher to complete his warm ups Coach walked over to me and whispered "you're going to bunt aren't you"? and smiled. To this day I have no idea what my " tell" was but he saw it. I've never forgotten that at bat, I did push bunt and beat the throw for a hit. It was only a moment in my 75 years but I've never forgotten that moment. Maybe, when my time comes, I can ask him. Rest well coach.

Mr Espanet was my guidance counselor and friend. One day while skipping school I got a phone call - Mr Espanet calling: "get to school! You have to get up pretty early in the morning to fool me!" A really great guy and the very last of the old breed of real man's men

Coach Espanet was my phys. ed. teacher at Stacy and MHS in the late 50s. Great guy; always very tolerant of my athletic bumblings and short-falls! Used to love watching him coach our championship MHS baseball teams up at Town Park; he could hit fungo-pops 100 ft. in the air! And his end-of-practice infield drills left my playing buddies gassed!! My sincere condolences for a true Milford and Mass. legend.

Dear Rick, Very sorry to hear about the loss of your father. All the children of Hopedale were very fortunate to have your dad in charge of the Parks Program for so many years. We never knew at the time how lucky we had it, but it brings back some great memories.
God bless you and your family.

My deepest condolences on the passing of a great role model. He instilled in me a passion for history and government that found me on the path of becoming a high school social studies teacher. On my first day at MHS this freshman was walking up the third flight of stairs to attend his civics class; he was standing out in the hall when he took one look at me and announced "my, you're a little one." And Little One is the name he used to address me for four years.
Rest in peace Mr. E. You touched so many lives and will be remembered fondly by so many. And by the way, I never did make it to 5'. Pamela '68

Dear Mrs Espanet, Chuck, Rick, and Family.
Sally and I send our hearth felt sympathies to you. Coach was the inspiration for me to pursue a career in education and coaching.
He taught me and so many other student-athletes the meaning of hard work and sportsmanship which I tried to carry forth
in my career. He shall always be a symbol
of strength and fortitude to all who were fortunate to have been a part of his life.
I will always have happy and fun memories
of the best teacher and coach that I have ever had.
