James McLellan Obituary

Lt. Col. James M. McLellan SHREWSBURY Lt. Col. James M. McLellan, 84, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Marlborough, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at St. Francis House. He was born in Somerville, son of the late John and Florence (Chisholm) McLellan. He was a graduate of Marlborough High School, Class of 1942. He joined the Army Air Corps in World War II, and retired as a U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. in 1969, having also served in Korea and during the Cold War. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Cluster and four air medals. He is survived by two sons, James McLellan of Burke, Va., and John McLellan of Topsham, Maine, and a daughter, Kathy Plunkett of Holidaysburg, Pa. He is also survived by two brothers, Neil D. McLellan of Rutland and Charles McLellan of Marlborough; two sisters, Catherine A. Fitzpatrick and Florence M. McNiff, both of Marlborough, and eight grandchildren. He was the father of the late Mary Lee Gurley, formerly of Ossipee, N.H., and brother of the late Christine Pappas and Donald Mc Lellan, formerly of Marlborough. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 8 a.m., at the John P. Rowe Funeral Home Inc., 57 Main St., Marlborough, with a Mass at 9 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect. St., Marlborough. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery, Marlborough. Visiting hours are Monday, Oct. 13, from 3 to 6 p.m.
