Michael Sannicandro

Michael R. Sannicandro, 96, a lifelong resident of Framingham, passed away peacefully Sunday Dec. 27, 2015 with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Delina (Travaglini) Sannicandro with whom he shared 68 years of marriage. Born and raised in Framingham, he was the son of the late Antonio and Rose (Zurlo) Sannicandro. A graduate of Framingham High School with the class of 1937, he was a decorated army veteran of World War II having served with the 884th Field Artillery Battery of the 29th Division. His unit saw extensive action from D-Day + 1 through the European Campaign. A PFC, he earned the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with bronze arrowhead and the good conduct medal. Returning home, he began a career with the Framingham Fire Dept., eventually retiring as a well respected Captain, after serving as an acting Deputy Chief for 2 years. An avid golfer and a true family man, Mr. Sannicandro played several instruments and performed with his sons at local weddings and parties. He'll be missed by all who knew him and loved him. In addition to his wife, he is survived by their children: Michael Sannicandro & wife Bonnie of Pepperell, Paul Sannicandro of Acton, ME., Marie Linden & husband John of Pepperell and Elaine Bourette & husband Ron of Framingham; a granddaughter: Lynn Lawrie & husband Gerry and a great granddaughter: Katelyn Lawrie; and a brother: Mario Sannicandro of Framingham. He was the brother of the late Anthony and Ernest Sannicandro. A visiting hour will be held Thursday Dec. 31 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Boyle Bros. Funeral Home, 173 Union Ave., Framingham with a funeral Mass to follow in St. Tarcisius Church, Waverly St., Rte. 135, Framingham at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Mass.
