DARIN STONE Obituary

Darin Lee Stone, 54, of Hallsville, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2020.

Born in Mexico on May 23, 1965, son of Merle and Margo (Powell) Stone of Montgomery City.

Darin graduated from Wellsville-Middletown High School in 1983. After high school he worked at Ralston Purina in Montgomery City. He then went to work at A.P. Green Refractories for 14 years until the plant closed. Darin loved doing carpentry and other add jobs as well. In 2013 he went to work at the University of Missouri-Columbia in the Records Center, where he worked until his passing.

Survivors include Darin's parents, Merle & Margo (Powell) Stone of Montgomery City and two brothers, Ricky (Mike) Merle Stone of Dover, Delaware and Kyle (Jennifer) Alan Stone of Mexico. Darin is also survived by the love of his life, Mary Ann Oakes, of their home in Hallsville. She has lost the love of her life and her heart is broken.

Darin was preceded in death by his grandparents and his aunt, Norma Jean Gowan.

Darin tinkered on construction projects and his cars and rode his Gold Wing motorcycle when possible. He loved driving his '64 Chevelle around town. His Chevelle belonged to his grandma originally and he put a lot of hours in making it the sharp Chevelle it is today. He and Mary loved fishing together and spent their spare time exploring various lakes to catch the big one. Darin always made time to spend with his family and loved them dearly. He enjoyed spending time on their family farm in Wellsville whenever he could.

There will be a private family service with his loved ones attending.
