Michael Barry Obituary
TROY - Michael Joseph Barry, age 90 of Troy, OH and formerly of Springfield, MA, passed away 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.
He was born April 7, 1933, in Cork City, Ireland to the late Theodore "Teddy" Barry and Hannah (O'Mahony) Barry.
Michael was preceded in death by his brother Tom Barry and sisters Nula Garry and Marie Garry.
Those left to cherish Michael's memory include his wife Margrit (Blättler) Barry, whom he married July 30, 1960; daughters Susan (Richard) Parsons of Troy, Michelle (Geoffrey) Cummings of Feeding Hills, MA, and Claire (Tammy Briggs) Barry of Christiansburg; grandchildren John (Monica) Donnelly of St Paris and Ashley Armstrong of Troy, as well as great-grandchildren Riley and Jayson; and extended family and friends.
Michael served in the British Army and was a retired machinist with Hamilton Standard in Connecticut. He was a member of the John Boyle O'Reilly Club in Springfield, MA. Michael enjoyed fishing and being in nature. He loved animals, especially horses and dogs. He raced greyhounds and was an avid fan of horse racing.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2023, at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.fishercheneyfuneralhome.com.
