Dave Drossos, age 76 of Bad Axe, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 27, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Dave was born December 21, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan the son of the late Joseph and Louella (Fick) Drossos. He married Sally Romzek on June 30, 1973.
Dave graduated from Centerline High School in Warren, Michigan and began working with his father in the family business, "Drossos Heating and Cooling". Dave served in Vietnam for the United States Navy, post military service, he worked part-time as reserve officer for both the Detroit and Warren Police Departments. Dave moved to Huron County and started working for the Ubly Police Department before joining the Huron County Sherriff's Department where he served full time for over 30 years. He was promoted to Detective and retired as a Lieutenant in 2012. He then worked part time for the Bad Axe Police Department up until his death.
Dave loved being with his family. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, everything outdoors, lending a helping hand, never slowing down, and stoking a great bonfire. He relaxed on the lanai in Florida and while tending to the Tiki bar in Caseville. Dave was always a reliable man; his consideration for those he cared about is what motivated his ambition to make things happen. He was the man behind the curtain, always two steps ahead physically and four steps ahead mentally who never quit supporting his friends and teaching his family. Dave was a member of the Ubly Fox Hunters Club, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Dave is survived by his wife, Sally Drossos of Bad Axe. His children, Dawn (Tom) Bellsky of East Lansing and Joe (Morgan) Drossos of Farmington Hills. Grandchildren, Albert and Theodore Bellsky and Nolan, Gordon and Cooper Drossos. One brother, Dennis Drossos of Fort Myers, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his in-laws, Louis and Verna Romzek; his brother-in-law, Dale Romzek; and nephew, John Drossos.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Huberts Parish – Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe and Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service time at 11 a.m.
