Allen Whalen Obituary

Allen R. Whalen
Allen R. Whalen, 82, of Middletown, beloved husband of Barbara (Dale) Whalen, died Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital. He was born in Middletown, son of George and Irene (Whalen) Link. Allen was a veteran who served with the US Marines. He retired from the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation. Allen loved to bowl, golf, tend to his garden, and the Yankees. In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by a son, A. Russell Whalen of Middletown; daughter, Lisa (Santy) Magnano of Middletown; sister, Irene (Gary) Henrich of Butte, MT; grandchildren, Dale and Jessica Magnano and Courtney and Christopher Whalen. He was predeceased by his brother, Paul Link and mother, Irene Link. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday (Dec.14th) at 10 a.m. at the State Veterans' Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. Calling hours will be Sunday (Dec. 12th) from 3 to 5 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
