Benjamin Foisie Obituary

Haddam, Higganum, Middletown, CT and Lyndeborough, N.H. >> Benjamin Foisie, of Lyndeborough, N.H. and formerly of Higganum, died doing what he loved most, working with his dad. He passed away just five days shy of his 20th birthday on Nov. 9.
Ben will be remembered by all for his optimistic outlook, his work ethic, and his ability to take on all of the challenges life gave to him. He was always happy and positive and this made all who knew him happy too. Ben was a gentle soul. He was unselfish and giving. When Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast, Ben wanted to drive down and cut up trees for people in need.
Ben had many friends from Connecticut to New Hampshire. He loved spending time with them working on his truck, listening to music, shooting, talking, texting or just hanging out. Ben's friends describe him as the nicest, sweetest, hardest working friend they ever had. He would do anything for them. He was known to give his last dollar to someone who needed it or lend a friend a hand even if he had something else to do.
If you needed help, he would be there. He would rake leaves, dig holes, or fix a roof without complaint. He wouldn't stop working on something until it was completely finished. It didn't matter how long it took him. He was stubborn in a good way!
Ben loved his big, noisy, monster truck as much as his country music. He would tell any one who listened, about the new pipes he was installing and he even had pictures to prove it. He was so proud of all of the machines that he worked with and spoke about them with great joy.
He wore his hats like badges of honor, each one showing the grease and dirt of the day's hard work. He did not want them cleaned, as if to say to everyone, "I work hard. I get dirty and I am proud of it!"
Ben did so many things in his short life. He was a lightning fast ski racer on Stratton Mountain in Vermont. He took part in his school plays and community theater as a member of their stage crews. Ben played football with tenacity. Ben was artistic. He was great with his hands. He could fix any machine put in front of him. He was a carpenter and he built many things out of wood that are now family treasures.
Ben spent his time working side by side with his father, Michael Foisie who will miss his presence dearly, as will his mother, Jeanmarie Foisie, older brother Sam and younger sister Lily.
He will also be missed by his grandparents, Janet Foisie of Noank, CT, Bob Foisie of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Rosemarie Martin of Gladstone, N.J. Ben had many loving aunts and uncles, and cousins who will feel a void at family gatherings. They will always hold him dear to their hearts.
Ben was perhaps too good for this world. It will be a bit darker without him. He now rests with those who have passed on before him, and he brightens their world now.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 381 Main St., Middletown, CT 06457. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St, Middletown. Burial will be in Lyndeborough, N.H. at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the ALS/TDI Association, (www.als.net), 300 Technology Sq. Ste. 400, Cambridge, MA 02139, in honor his godfather, Christopher Martin.

Jeanmarie, Mike, Sam and Lily - I am at a loss for words. My heart aches with grief over the loss of Ben. Many great memories of him at the ice rink when Sam and Rob played youth hockey. Ben was always there to play with and wathch over Ricky when he was a toddler while always keeping him occupied while their brothers played the game. He was a great brother to Lily and Sam as well as a 1st friend to Ricky. We are sorry for your loss and your family will foverever be in our hearts, prayers and thoughts. Hard to grasp and harder to accept---we are all pained at this loss and are struggling to remind ourselves of how much more light Ben brought into this world than the shadow of his loss can cast. Dear Mr. and Mrs. Foisie- I am the mother of one of the young men who was with Ben when he passed away. It was very hard on him and the other guys who,in honor of Ben played country music all day long yesterday at the site . Josh spoke very highly of Ben and even though I had never met him he often spoke of him as being a sweet, kind, gentle spirit and a great guy. I, as a mother feel devastated by this loss for you because Josh thought so much of Ben. He leaves a wonderful legacy for all those who knew him and even those who didn't. I feel blessed my son was one of them...Jody Brown, Wilton,NH

November 14, 2012

My breath was taken away at the sight of this beautiful young man. May you somehow find strength and peace in the weeks and months that follow. Know that he is ALWAYS with you.

They say that memories help us heal,
But I don't think it's true
For every time I think of you
My heart just breaks in two

Remembering the time that you
Did that
Or the time that you did this
Creates an emptiness
In my chest
As deep as any abyss

I cry and cry thinking
That I will never stop
And then at last, I realize,
I've cried the final drop

I heave a sigh, but know inside
That it will happen again.
A part of me is lost forever,
I love you so much, my friend.

I also feel a great relief
That I welcome at any time
I guess this is how our memories heal
By making us long and pine

It leaves more room in our hearts
To fill with memories new
But I know no matter how many I gather
There's always room for you.

Dear Ben's Family and Friends,we have never met Ben in person, but our heart goes out to all that he left behind, especially to his grandfather Bob Foise, whom we have in our prayers tonight. Ben's untimely and sudden passing reminds us of how fleeting the time we have together is! As a mother, I cannot find words of consolation to his parents as losing a child, especially when he was such a loving and fun person, is just forever unthinkable. With all our love, Basia Antonicka and Aldo Scotta.

Children who die are not really alone,
But go to a place that is something like home,
Where they sleep the deep sleep, as quiet as stone,
Until we can join them when our lives are done.

Children who die are not really dead,
But just like good children tucked into bed,
Wait the long wait while we go ahead
Till our tales are all told and our tears are all shed.

Children who die feel no pleasure or pain
In the place where they wait till they see us again,
And all of us dance in a world washed with rain
Where the sun shines so brightly no sorrows remain

To the Foise Family. How sad we all are here at Vinal Technical High School to hear of Ben's tragic passing. I am sitting here in tears and my heart breaks for you all at your loss. Ben was one of the most respectful, kind and hard working students I have ever known. Despite his challenges, he never gave up and never complained. I loved him as a student in Biology and as a person in life. I know I speak for all the faculty and staff who knew him, that he WILL be so missed, yet so well remmbered here at our school. I want you to know that the last time I talked to Ben was in his shop during the end of year party his senior year. He was so excited about his move to New Hampshire and to be able to work with his dad. He loved his family so much, I could just hear it in his voice and see it in his eyes. You did at great job raising him and again you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Jeanmarie and family,
I am so heartsick over your loss. I remember fondly my days in RSD17 with you and with Ben. I know what a special child he was and can only imagine the fine young he man he became. My heart goes out to you all and know that I am thinking of you during this difficult time.

Dear Jeanmarie, Mike, Sammy, and Lily,

I am so sad to hear of Ben's death. I remember him running up and down the stairs of the ice rink at Wesleyan while Sammy and Karin played hockey at 5:30 AM. I remember the arm wrestling competitions at the sixth grade lunch tables. He was such a friendly kid who was loved by so many.

I hope you soon find peace in the wonderful memories held in your hearts and in the hearts of others. My deepest sympathy is extended to all of you, and you are in my thoughts and prayers daily.

Love, Ginnie Greene

Mike, Jeanmarie, Sam, and Lily,
My heart goes out to you. You raised a fine young man with a heart of gold. He is rocking those new wings and showing the angels how a truck should run and houses should be built....We miss him dearly.
