Carey's passing is still hard to believe. I was fortunate to know Carey through our 4 years at Xavier High. We ended up going to the same college, Western Connecticut State University. We never planned on it but it just worked out that way. I have many memories and stories I could tell about Carey. What stands out is that Carey was everyone's friend. He was just one of the guys. When Carey and I attended Western, it was the first year that "men" were allowed in one of the 3 dorms on campus. We were the lucky ones who got a room on the 5th floor of Newbury Hall. There were only 52 spots available. Even after graduating we often remarked how fortunate we were to get selected out of the pool of guys vying for a dorm room.
In college we had different interests, and friends, but one shared interest that many may not know about was our involvement in WXCI FM, the college radio station. Carey and I both served on the Executive Board. I as General Manager and Carey as our Business Manager.
I think if Carey could tell us he would say that one of his proudest moments at the station was that he had a show on the air. Led Zepplin was one of his favorite groups and he loved to play their songs.
I send my thoughts and prayers to Carey's family. Carey will not be forgotten and he taught all of us what it means to be a fighter and his love for life. Rest in Peace my friend.

I went to Xavier with Carey. We had many crazy fun times that were sort of an early 70s version of American Graffiti. I will always remember him as a very fun loving soul. My condolences to the family.

Condolences to the entire Hewitt family. I grew up with Carey and Billy on Boston Road and our families knew each other well.
