DAVID PISKORSKI Obituary

PISKORSKI, DAVID ALFRED David Alfred Piskorski, born September 4th, 1941, passed away on October 24, 2015 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain. He was the beloved husband of Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” (Amenta) Piskorski. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Lucien S. and Genevieve (Kulas) Piskorski. David was a graduate of New Britain High School, class of 1959, graduate of Fairfield University, class of 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in History and a graduate of Catholic University Law School in 1966. He served in the Marine Corp Reserves from 1966-1972 and he practiced law for forty years in the New Britain area until his retirement in 2007. During his professional career he was a member of the Plainville Jaycees, the Plainville Board of Appeals, and a member of the New Britain Bar Association where he served as president. He was also a member of the Hartford County Bar, Connecticut Bar Association and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. David moved to Berlin in 1973 and he was very active in the community as he served on the Planning Commission, the Berlin Democratic Town Committee and was on the Berlin Board of Directors of the Visiting Nurses Association. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener and he was a lifelong fan of the New York Giants and Boston Red Sox. He often took credit for the Red Sox winning the World Series in 2004 by refusing to watch their playoff run because he felt it would be bad karma. His greatest joy in his final years has been attending his grandsons sporting events and spending time with his four grandchildren. David will be greatly missed by his family and friends; son, Michael David Piskorski, daughter in law, Tamara and grandsons, Nolan and Justin of Berlin; daughter, Jennifer Samaras, son in-law, Christopher Samaras and granddaughters, Caroline and Audrey of Andover MA; his sister, Diane Pavelchak and brother in-law Michael Pavelchak of Eastham, MA, his sister in-law, Celeste Finison and her partner Joanne Reilly of Brookline, MA and his nieces, nephews and cousins; also his close friends, Bill Stanlonis and Dennis and Leona Bartnik. As per his wishes, a private graveside service will be held at the Maple Cemetery in Berlin. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, New Britain, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations can be made in his name to the Ryan T Lee Memorial Foundation, c/o 103 Peter Parley Row, Berlin CT 06037.

Dear Betsy and family,
It is will great sadness that we have learned of Dave's passing. Dave was our classmate and our friend. The NBHS Class of 1959 was unique because of the wonderful students and Dave was a vital part of that heritage and legacy. His humor, sensitivity, kindness, and great personality were cherished by his many friends. Dave throughout the years was there to help organize and support our many reunions and class celebrations. Whenever we needed help he was there volunteering and providing assistance. Always supportive but never taking the credit for his efforts. Words can not express how much he will be missed. As the VP of the NBHS Class of 1959 I know that I am expressing our class's feelings. Farewell dear friend and may you rest in peace.
