George P. Dunn, 77, of Middletown, beloved husband of fifty-six years to Rosemary M. Rosemary- you don´t know me but I was very good friends with George´s sister Maureen when we were young. I lived across the stree lot from them in Middletown. We lost touch as we grew up but I remember your husband as a little kid. He was a great kid- always wanted to be a fireman like his dad. I was just looking at the obits on the internet and saw his. I am so sorry for your loss. He had a great career doing what he wanted to do and I am so happy for that. Time goes by so fast and remembering when we were kids and having fun with Maureen, Lois Hastings, and george when we would be at their house brings such good memories.

Well, I was on the 1959 Kiwanis Little League team. I was a bench warmer and George was the starting Catcher. He for some reason liked to play warm-up catch with me.
In one game (Tommy LaBella was pitching) George Dunn hit a home run that cleared the center field fence by a great distance. I had never seen the like from anybody in Little League. We won the Championship that year and George had a lot to do with it.

I’ve known George since soon after he started dating my cousin, Rosemary Montante. I was in their bridal party and she in mine. Living in NY, we always tried to get together at least once a year and always enjoyed George’s many stories, his absolutely good looks and his smile, which was always ear to ear. Going to miss you so much.

When George married my cousin Rosemary, I was priviledged to be part of the wedding party. They were the perfect couple and you just saw and felt the love they shared. All these years later that love still existed. George was a wonderful husband, father and gave his all for his profession. I’m sorry I’m not there to show my respect and condolences in person but my love and prayers are with the family. George, you will be missed by so many. RIP

Dear Rosemary,Krista, Mat and family,
George will be greatly missed by ALL who knew him. He was indeed one of Middletown's and Connecticut's true assets. He was a true Leader in ALl of his pursuits, especially the Fire Department and the City of Middletown. George ALWAYS went that extra mile to do everything in an outstanding way. It was indeed a pleasure to work with George, especially at Budget time when he would painstakingly account for every penny and line item.
George also prided himself on his wonderful and close knit family. And, anyone who had the privilege of knowing George knew HE WAS a TRUE and CLOSE Friend.
George will surely BE MISSED by Anyone who knew him. Sweetly MAY HE REST IN PEACE and May HIs MEMORY ALWAYS Be a BLESSING!!!

Chief Dunn was one of the kindest men I’ve ever met. As a woman in a male dominated field, George went to bat for me many times in my early career. He was an advocate, a mentor, and a true leader. I hadn’t seen him in many years but am forever thankful for his encouragement and support as I started my career. I’m so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Goodbye, Chief. May you rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord.

Mr. Dunn (as we called him, even though he insisted on George) was one in a million. He was a man who listened more than he spoke but when he did speak, you can bet you were about to learn something. He was a wealth of knowledge and and a very humble, and virtuous man. He loved his family very much and made sure they all knew it. I looked up to and respected George and enjoyed our conversations and holiday dinners and get togethers. I am going to miss those times. May George be resting in eternal peace and may God bless his family with strength, peace, love and the happiest of memories.
