Harold Jacobson Obituary

Harold W. Jacobson Jr.
Harold William Jacobson Jr. (better known as Jake), passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 1st. Harold is survived by his daughters Lisa Jacobson (Neal) of Fair Haven, VT and Lynn Harlow (Stephen) of Haddam, grandchildren Marc and Jenni-Lynn Fuoco and Cody and Cassie Harlow, sister Frances Pacholski of Guilford, brother Phil Jacobson of Cathedral City, CA, brother-in-law Joe Geruch of Higganum, and sister-in-law Maureen Romano of Middletown. Harold was predeceased by his wife Sallene Romano, brother Robert and his wife Geraldine, brothers-in-law Edward Pacholski, Joseph Romano, and sister-in-law Carolyn Geruch. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and a group of lifelong friends. Harold was born in Middletown to the late Harold W. Jacobson Sr. and Paula Piekarski. Upon graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School, he was a chef in the Army Reserves, worked for Good Year Rubber Company, and later for Sunshine Dairy. In December of 1962, he married the love of his life Sallene, and together they built their home in Middletown. Jake was a true family man and always the life of the party. He truly believed in do-it-yourself from building the family home to repairing vehicles and fixing the plumbing. Jake was one of the last door-to-door milkmen who always took time to talk to his customers. When the state was shut down during the ice storm of 1973 and blizzard of 1978, he made sure milk and eggs were still delivered to his customers. He frequently made time for a cup of coffee or tea with his customers. Jake's biggest joys were always his grandchildren and family. He especially loved making apple pancakes for his grandchildren. He, along with his wife, would attend many sports and school events whenever possible and they hosted many holiday dinners and gatherings. He loved taking his grandchildren on mini vacations to Vermont and Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers and donations, we ask that you take time out of each day to reflect on how precious life is. Calling hours will be at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, on Saturday, July 6th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a short service at 10:30 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Saint Sebastian Cemetery. Lisa, Carol and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Jake and your mom were so wonderful and I´m sorry that I didn´t get to see you and your family. I just read obituary and wanted you to know I was thinking of both of you. Your mom and I had so much fun in our day. Again so sorry.
