James "Jim" Paul Jacobson

October 13, 1961 – July 21, 2025

James (Jim) Paul Jacobson, aka Jake, passed away on July 21, 2025, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines following an intense seven-week inpatient battle with cancer. He was 63. Jim passed with his loving wife and close friends by his side.

Jim was born October 13, 1961, to Earl and Virginia Jacobson. He graduated from Urbandale High School and later from DMACC. He married the love of his life, Audrey "Jane" [Moon] Jacobson, in 1985, and they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in May. From this union, their amazing daughter, Samantha "Sami" Jacobson, was born.

Jim spent 30 years in the insurance industry and enjoyed chauffeuring for Royal Rides in his retirement. Jake loved camping, IndyCar races, smoking meat, and volunteering for Forever Home Dog Rescue and the Patriot Guard Riders. He and Jane also showed their classic cars off for many years at the Good Guys car show at the Iowa State Fairgrounds and other car shows. He was lovingly called "Mr. Fixit" by those who knew and relied on his sharp mechanical mind.

To celebrate his life and legacy his way, please join us in your casual duds for an Open House Celebration of Life at Polk City Legion Hall 232, 114 W Broadway St, Polk City, IA 50226, on Saturday, August 9th, from 2–8 PM, with memories being shared at 3 PM.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jane; daughter Samantha Jacobson (Jarid) of Omaha, NE; sister Valerie Jacobson (Lee) of Nederland, CO; fur babies: Billy, Beebe, Max, and Maya; and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be directed to the family or to Forever Home Dog Rescue at www.foreverhomedogs.org
