John Patrick Kelly Obituary

John Patrick "JP" Kelly, 45, formally of Essex, departed this life on Oct. 14, 2012, entering a far better home in heaven into the arms of our Lord.
JP was born Dec. 12, 1966, in New Britain, the third child of Andrea E. (Suess) Kelly, of Southington and the late John R. Kelly.
JP graduated from Plainville High School, Class of 1984, and attended Western New England College. He then chose to fulfill his wish to be a police officer. He joined the New Haven Police Department in 1989 and rose to the rank of police sergeant in 1996. By 2003, JP achieved the position of district manager. He retired from the force in July 2008.
In addition to his mother, JP leaves behind in sadness his loving children, Caitlyn M. and Ryan P. Kelly, both of Essex; a brother, Kristopher Kelly and his wife, Mary Ann, of Marietta, Ga.; a sister, Amy Glowka and her husband, Christopher, of Southington; along with nieces, M. Morgan Kelly, of New York and Paige E. Glowka, of Southington.
Funeral services are Saturday 8:30 a.m. at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 99 Franklin Square, New Britain. Burial will follow in Tylerville Cemetery, Haddam. Calling hours are Friday 5 to 8 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Ray of Light Animal Rescue Farm, 51 Clark Gates Rd., Moodus, CT 06469 or to the National Spinal Cord Injury Assn, CT Chapter, c/o Gaylord Hospital, Gaylord Farms Rd., Wallingford, CT 06492, or to St. Matthew's Lutheran Day School, 99 Franklin Sq, New Britain, CT 06051.
