Lucy DeMelis Obituary
Lucy (Annino) DeMelis, 88, died peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, January 4. Daughter of the late Sebastiana (Nella) and Salvatore Annino, Lucy was born in Melilli, Italy on February 21, 1935 and came to Middletown in 1950 where she has resided since. She was a member of St. Pius Church. Some of her favorite times were spent with her family, entertaining for holidays and sharing her amazing cooking. She also loved her regular visits back to Italy to enjoy seeing the sights and her family.
She is survived by her three children, Lisa, John and Lori -Ann DeMelis; five grandchildren whom she adored, John Demelis, Melissa Oddo, Marc Scianna , Laura Scianna and Matthew DeMelis; five great-grandchildren Giovanna, Gabriella, Nella and Anthony DeMelis, and Olivia, and Ella Oddo. She also leaves behind her sister, Rose DeMelis. In her recent years, Lucy was blessed to be taken care of by her wonderful caregiver, Sarah.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. from the Lastrina Family Funeral Home, 491 High Street, Middletown followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Middletown. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 11 from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Middlesex Hospice c/o Development Office, 55 Crescent Street, Middletown, CT 06457.

I worked with Lucy at Atlas Editions(durham)...a beautiful woman inside & out...we had many fun lunches, Linos...Sebbys...i will remember her fondly...please accept my heartfelt condolences...
