Michael Andeen Obituary

Michael D. Andeen
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Michael David Andeen, 67, of Higganum. Michael "Yacky" Andeen passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Born in Middletown on December 23, 1954, he was the son of John D. And Virginia Andeen. Michael was a graduate of Vinal Regional Technical School Class of 1972, where he was an avid cross-country runner. In 1972, Michael broke every school record on the home course. Michael was hired on November 19, 1973 at Pratt & Whitney in Middletown after his five years of Tool, Die and Gage training. On July 1, 1995, Michael was promoted to Working Leader of Tool and Die, gaining a reputation for his ability to manage projects and deliver results. Michael was promoted several times throughout his career. He was most recently promoted to the Manager of Facilities on June 16, 2021, where he was responsible for the Tool Room Middletown Site operations. He was deeply committed to his work and team and operated with the highest standard of ethics. Throughout his time at Pratt & Whitney, he made an impact on so many people. He was a great man, friend and toolmaker. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly Andeen and their two children, Christopher and Brooke, along with one grandson, Kameron, and two beloved rescue dogs, Zoey and Molly. He also leaves behind three siblings and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and beloved cousins. Michael was not only kind, but loyal, to his friends and family. To the people who knew him the best, he loved and cherished you. On May 8, 1986, Michael met the love of his life, Kimmie. Later that year, they were married on December 20, 1986. Throughout 36 years of marriage, Mike and Kim entertained family and friends at their log home on the reservoir in Higganum. From softball parties to fishing picnics, Mike loved the memories that were made at the cabin. Mike also enjoyed taking his corvette down to the beach, working on his 1953 Ford F500 truck, and listening to CCR & John Fogerty. On the weekends, you could find Mike sitting on his front porch enjoying the wonderful life he built. Family and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours on Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown. I am very sad to hear of Mike´s passing. He was truly an amazing person to work with. He always wanted to give you the best of everything. Always a pleasure to talk with, he was so proud of the team and department he built and the work of his folks. He was the biggest advocate for skilled tradesmen. He fought for his team and he was proud and shared their accomplishments. He was an example for us all. He will be well and truly missed.

I learned of Mike´s passing from several of his P&W buddies, who used to gather at my place in Niantic for horseshoe Friday´s. It broke my heart to think that this loving, dedicated young man had to leave us. I will always remember him for his humor and love of others.
Sincerely, Don

Mike was simply the best. Worked with him for over 20 years, and cannot think of a single time where he didn´t deliver in the clutch. Always came through, always delivered, always had a great attitude. Just a mountain of persistence that would not be deterred by the seemingly impossible. No one was ever more dedicated. He was an absolute joy to work with, always put folks in a better mood. We all loved him. Words cannot capture how much of an impact he had on so many of us, and how much he will be missed. Condolences to Mike´s family. He was a one of kind legend.

Every time Mike would come upstairs to tool design he would greet people he knew with a smile & a nickname if he had one for you. Easy to solve work issues with Mike. A genuine great guy who cared. He will be missed. My condolences to his family.

I spent many years with The Yack! He was such a great guy. I surely will miss the occasional phone call just to check up and see what's going on and reminisce about the old days! Rest in peace my brother!

So sorry to hear of Mike's passing. Such a nice man.
I used to work in Bld.220 back in the '90's where I met Mike. We would stop and BS about anything in general. I knew that he loved living at the reservoir. Sad that he's gone to soon. May God comfort his family and friends.

I knew Mike for many years at Pratt Whitney when he was hourly and salary. He really cared about his job and the people that worked for him. I did not work directly for Mike. I worked in the trades but when ever we worked on job for him he always treated us great. He was always full of laughs and would make you laughs also.

I worked with “Mikey” as we all called him for the past 11 years and he baca me much more than just a coworker over those years. I walked about as far as you can walk one way on the Middletown campus just to go see him every morning. He was a stand up guy and would do anything to help anybody. Mike will be sorely missed among his friends and coworkers. My condolences to his family and the crew who worked for him. I know you’re all hurting because of what a great guy he was. RIP my friend.
