A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 14 at the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook. Calling hours will be Saturday from 10 until the time of service at 2 p.m. A repast will follow at the American Legion. Burial will be private.
Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, with checks made payable to Robert Burr Jr. Children's Fund at Liberty Bank, 8 East Main St., Clinton, CT 06413.

Bob always said "We are only here for a visit" He was so right. I love you and miss you so much! Nothing is the same. Emily is going into surgery today and I know you are there with her. Bobby...So many memories. Haven't stopped thinking about you and all our crazy times and late nite convos once upon a time...You are the best man and I am honored to have had you in my life. Many memories, many laughs, many things we never got to say. But we shared a bond of pride and love for our daughter we created. I will treasure every memory. I'm proud to be Carlee's mom, and even prouder to call you her Dad. I know you are with us, and will be her guardian angel forever, watching her grow up, and smiling down on her with pride and a big grin! Our amazing daughter! You did great things, Bob. I don't know what to say other than you are missed and will be missed always. Your departure was way too soon and unexpected we want you here with us but since you cant he hold u in our hearts forever. The only solace and consolation we may have is all the Great memories we have been left with. Time shall heal our pain here on earth people say but the truth is the pain will always remain we just try to cope as best as we can. As for your mom she will miss you always but the bond you had with her no one can ever break not even your sudden departure. We love you Bob as we look up to the sky we know your either smiling or laughing hard right back down on us and we'll eventually find some comfort in the memory of the sound of your laughhter or the look on your handsome face. You are missed in ways words can and will never be enough to describe.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.

There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I am so sorry to learn of Bobby's passing, and my deepest sympathies go out to his family, loved ones, and friends. Bobby was one of the funniest people I ever knew, even as children he could light up a room with his smile. In the 6th grade at Essex Elementary Bobby came to my house one day after school with trinkets and kind words to let me know he had a crush on me. Bobby was a sweetheart even then and I will always treasure this lovely memory. I hope your memories of Bobby give you comfort now and forever. You are in my prayers.

When hurrican Irene left my yard in a terrible mess it was Bob who came to the rescue and cleaned it up for me. Although I really never had the opportunity to know him well he will always be remembered as a helpful, thoughtful, hard working guy. My condolences to the family.
