Robert Grenier Obituary

Grenier, Robert "Bob"
Robert "Bob" Grenier, 79, of Durham and Barefoot Bay Florida, loving husband of JoAnne (Mintzer) Grenier, died Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital. Born in New Bedford, MA, son of the late Helen (Pellerian) and Antonio Grenier. Bob served his country during Vietnam, stationed at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, DC where he "famously" carried President Eisenhower from a train. He was the proud owner of Uncle Bob's Garden Center and a dedicated fan of the Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, and UCONN basketball. Bob's greatest joy was watching his grandchildren play sports. He also had very fond memories of his years coaching youth sports and basketball at Coginchaug. He was committed to community and talked with great pride about his years of service to the Portland Fire Department. Besides his wife JoAnne, Bob is survived by his three children, Michele Rulnick and husband Michael of Middlefield, Jeff Grenier and wife Christine of Durham, and Michael Grenier and wife Noreen of Middlefield, seven grandchildren Mackenzie and Connor Rulnick, Melissa and Alexandria Grenier, Kyle, Michaela and Katelyn Grenier. Bob was the oldest sibling with seven sisters and three brothers. He was predeceased by his sister Pauline, brother, Raymond and nephew, Scott. Bob was a proud uncle to 11 nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, on Thursday (May 13th) from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial, with military honors, will be at the State Veterans' Cemetery, Middletown at the convenience of his family. A Celebration of Bob's life will be held Friday, May 14, 2021 at 4 p.m. at Falcon Grove, 144 Prout Hill Rd., Middletown, CT. People wishing to honor Bob's lifelong commitment to community service can make donations to the Coginchaug Benchwarmers, where he served as a past president, C/O Dr. William Lema, 43 Sand Hill Rd., Durham, CT 06422.
