Stephen Hill Obituary

Stephen A. Hill, Jr.
With deep sorrow, we share the passing of Stephen A. Hill Jr., 23, of Middletown, on March 31, 2025. He was the beloved son of Stephen A. Hill Sr. and Sheron Scoffone, and the adoring younger brother of his big sister, Timaya Robinson, of Newington. Stephen was an extraordinary light in everyone's world-thoughtful, warm, sharp, respectful, and full of charisma. He possessed the wisdom of an old soul, paired with boundless energy, leaving an unforgettable impact on all those whose lives he touched. A proud graduate of the Middletown High School Class of 2019, Stephen excelled as a student, athlete, and leader. His early years in Middletown Tigers Youth Football and Prof Gallietto Basketball League forged lifelong brotherhood bonds with his teammates. At Middletown High School, he played football, basketball, and track, serving as football team captain and coaching youth flag football. Beyond sports, Stephen was an integral part of the DECA National Championship team, a dedicated youth mentor, and a compassionate summer camp counselor. He held deep admi-ration for all the coaches and teachers who influenced his journey, from his early years in youth sports to his time in middle and high school. These mentors played a significant role in his life, with none being more important than his loving parents and family, who have always been there to guide and support him along his path. After earning his undergraduate degree from Western New England University, Stephen returned home with a strong desire to give back to the Middletown community. He became the first person to serve on the City's Youth Services Advisory Board in both a student and adult capacity. His commitment extended to Beman Middle School, where he worked as a paraprofessional and substitute teacher, and he was recently named assistant football coach for the Middletown High Blue Dragons-all while pursuing his MBA. Stephen's passion also flourished in music, where he spent recent years writing, recording, and performing. Stephen leaves behind a legacy of love, leadership, and service. He is survived by his parents, sister, grandparents, Aldo and Carol Scoffone, Patrece L. Hill, Gloria Hill (Pine Bluff, AK) Herbert Laurie (Barbara), Beauford, SC, great-grandma, Ida, Beauford, SC, his uncle, Paul and auntie, Amy Scoffone, and his cousins Christopher and Eric Scoffone. He was predeceased by his uncle, Kevin Hill. Stephen is survived by a vast community of brothers, close friends, and "second moms" from Middletown and Springfield, MA. Though we mourn the future we had hoped to share with Stephen, we choose to celebrate the full-ness of the life he lived-a life that continues to inspire, and whose legacy will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew him. Calling hours will be Sunday, April 6, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at Cross Street AME Zion Church, 440 West St., Middletown. Stephen embraced everyone for who they were and valued the importance of comfort. In honor of his spirit, please feel free to come as you are. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Middletown Youth Services, 51 Green Street, Middletown, CT 06457, in Memory of Stephen Hill Jr. To share memories or express condolences online, please visit www.biegafuneralhome.com .

I worked with Stephen in the afterschool program at Beman. I had so much respect for the wonderful way he had with the middle school students, and they clearly enjoyed being with him. I never saw him having a bad day; he was always positive, with a smile on his face. He had such a strong life-force emanating from him! I'm grateful to have known him, and my heart goes out to his family and friends. The world is a better place because of him.

Stephen was such a wonderful, kind, and pure soul. He walked into the room and everyone would be so excited to see him. He was such a genuine person, he always had a smile on his face and checked in on all of his friends. I don´t know anyone else that would think otherwise. He truly was the most amazing person, always kind and always caring for his friends. No matter what he himself was going through, his friends and family were above all else. I always looked forward to seeing Stephen on campus at WNE, it was like we were together everyday. No matter the day, time, hour etc he would be there. Even if you hadn´t talked with him in months, it´d be like you talked everyday. He truly (and I can´t express this enough) was the kindest, most pure soul I have ever met. Stephen, I know we haven´t talked in a while but I miss you so much. I always loved running into you and seeing you throughout campus. It always made my day talking with you, getting a big bear hug as soon as you saw anyone you knew. You have the absolute best hugs. Thank you for making such a huge impact on my life. You truly were so amazing. My prayers and thoughts go out to your family during this tough time. I´ll go on with life living how you did, living to the fullest and full of love and kindness, no matter what´s going on. I know that´s how you always lived and would want us to carry your legacy on that way. Love you forever, Stephen. Until we meet again -Rissa

Stephen. someone who was more than a friend, but a Brother to me. He always checked in on me, and I mean always. Whether I’m in college or back home in CT, we pick up right where we left off. He was always proud for me pushing through college, encouraging me to finish strong and graduate this may. I’m doing this for you brother, I know you’re giving me the strength to always work hard, to be the light in someone’s day just as you were lights in our days. I love you brother.

I lived in quail run for many many years, and my kids grew up with Stephen. He called me Ms. Michelle. I have the twin boys, James and David and my daughter Audrey. Stephen was idolized by my sons. He was my pool buddy. My walk home from the bus stop with Mya buddy. He was my let's play colors, let's play Marco Polo, let's play football and make Ms. Cindy annoyed cause the ball is going over the fence buddy. My let's eat another ice pop buddy. My heart is broken for such a wonderful and kind young man. My heart is broken for sheron, Mya, and big Stephen. From watching him grow from a little boy who would talk my ear off about basketball and football, to being so excited to get no college for football. To having Audrey sit with him at lunch because she had no friends her first year and she became cool because she was Stephens friend and neighbor. From my boy David joining football only because Stephen was going to be at Woodrow Wilson to help with try outs. I can't say how sorry I am for such a loss. May God bless you all. I hope you all remember me, because I'll always love and remember you.

My babies all grew up with Stephen in quail run. He called me Ms. Michelle, the twins mama. I watched him grow from a little boy getting walked home from the bus stop with Mya while I waited for Audrey with my little boys. I watched him grow into a wonderful young man. One my boys idolized. My son David only joined football in 6th grade because he knew Stephen was going to be at Woodrow Wilson for try outs and might help coach. We swam all summer long. Playing colors, Marco Polo. Even though he was so much older than David and James he was their friend. My heart is broken for the amazing young man. Sheron , Mya, and Big Stephen I am so unbelievably sorry for the loss of Stephen. I hope you remember me, because I will always love and remember you all. God bless you, Stephen. Thank you for being someone my boys could look up to and idolize all their youth, and thank you for being my pool buddy.
