Frederick Saster Obituary

Frederick A. Butch Saster 87, of Franklin, died peacefully, Sunday January 4, 2015 at the Maples Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Wrentham, following an illness. He was the husband of the late Shirley J. (Brushingham) Saster, who died in 1984. Born January 7, 1927 in Franklin, a son of the late Frank and Florence (Nasuti) Saster, he was a lifelong Franklin resident. Butch was educated in Franklin schools, and was a retired laborer for Local #138 in Norwood, and also served as Union President for many years. He also worked for the JR Padula Construction Company in Franklin. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII, he attained the rank of private first class and was part of Company B 349th Infantry Regiment and was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal & the World War II Victory Medal. Butch was honorably discharged in February 1947. He was a kind, gentle, and giving man who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, great grandchildren and was an avid New York Yankees fan. Butch is survived by a son, Frederick A. Butch Saster, Jr. and his companion Donna Tiernan of Franklin, 2 grandchildren, Lisa J. Saster, Stephanie Saster-Briggs, 2 great grandchildren, Taylor & Ryan Briggs and a daughter-in-law Carol Saster. He was the brother of the late Joseph, Anthony, & John Saster, Mary Cheli, Rose Crothers and Lucy Molloy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Friday Jan. 9th, at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., with a funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Franklin at 10AM. Interment with military honors will follow at the parish cemetery.
