Robert "Robbie" Eugene Ketchum, 63, of McLoud, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully in his home on July 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born with a servant's heart and a warrior's spirit, Robbie proudly served in the United States Army for 29 years, retiring as a Sergeant Major and medic. His life was marked by compassion, leadership, and faith. Throughout his decorated military career, Robbie and his family moved all across the United States, living in Colorado, Texas, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Virginia, and Massachusetts. His service took him many places, but his heart remained with his family and his faith. Robbie graduated from Earlsboro High School in 1980 and later attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, where he continued building a foundation of dedication and service. He earned a master's degree during his military service and constantly sought to better himself and uplift others. Among his numerous honors, Robbie was awarded The Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal (6th award), and many more awards and metals. Robbie was a devoted member of the Church of the Nazarene in Choctaw, Oklahoma, where he passionately encouraged others to lean on Jesus in all things. He lived out his faith daily and led by example. He cherished every moment with his beloved wife of 42 years, Shara Louise Ketchum (Kiehn), whom he married in 1983. Robbie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He maintained a close and loving relationship with each of his three daughters, and his grandchildren brought him endless laughter and pride. Robbie is survived by his wife Shara; his daughters: Rayna Long and spouse Van Long of Jones, OK, and their children Kaylee, Jaxon, Emma, and Tucker; Kendra Garrett and spouse Tyler Gibson of Edmond, OK, and their children Jase, Hali Rose, and Cleo; and Sidney Maltbia and spouse Brent Maltbia of Edmond, OK. He is also survived by his siblings: Karen Gagle and spouse Richard of Bartlesville, OK; Jimmy Ketchum and spouse Melissa of Barnsdall, OK; David Ketchum Rf Indian Beach, NC; Gay Ketchum of Shawnee, OK; Jon Ketchum and spouse Mila of Morristown, TN; Andy Ketchum and spouse Cheri of Oklahoma City, OK; Tricia Smith and spouse Patrick of Indian Beach, NC. Robbie is lovingly remembered by his 12 nieces, 8 nephews, and his three cherished fur babies: Poppy, Ollie, and Arthur. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Ray Ketchum; his maternal grandparents, Fred and Marjorie Simpson; paternal grandparents, step-grandfather Amos and Letha Mae Young; biological grandfather Enoch Wesley Ketchum, and special relatives Jack and Sue Simpson, Norman and Margie Artherton, among others who welcomed him home in Heaven. Robbie loved nature, especially hiking, and he had a deep appreciation for music-whether it was 70's rock or worship songs. His favorite color was blue, reflecting the peace, loyalty, and strength he carried throughout his life. He will be remembered as a man of integrity, love, and unwavering faith. Robbie lived a life that honored God, country, and family-and his legacy will continue through all those he touched. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Choctaw Church of the Nazarene. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.
