George Barker Obituary

George David Barker, 88, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at his home in Brainerd.

George and his wife, Ann, raised their family in Onamia, where they owned and ran the Union 76 Gas Station. He went on to become a long time mechanic at the Nissan dealership in Brainerd, where he was truly valued.

George and his wife were members of the Onamia Lions Club, The Mille Lacs County Search & Rescue Team and The Mille Lacs Drift Skippers Snowmobile Club.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an accomplished woodworker.

George was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Ann, of 61 years. As well as his sons, Timothy and Brian, and his only daughter, Bonita.

George is survived by his three sons, Bret (Brenda) Bruce (Teri) and Blake. His brother, Jim (Pat) Barker, Sartell, Mn and his sisters Marilyn Winn, Ironton, Mn, Laura Halonen, Brainerd, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A brief memorial service will be held Friday, September 29, 2023 at 11:00am, followed by military funeral honors, given at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, 15550 HWY 115, Little Falls, Mn 56345. A Luncheon will follow immediately at the Quality Inn & Suites, 2115 So. 6th, Brainerd, Mn 56401.

Cremation was handled by the Minnesota Cremation Society.
