William Cotter Obituary

William (Bill) Ellsworth Cotter born January 3rd, 1947, passed away peacefully in his home on October 19th,2022 at the age of seventy-five.

Bill was a man of many talents that ranged from owning and operating restaurants, working for Lockheed Aircraft, Real Estate, Bee Keeping, and working in an automobile factory. He was a man that knew a little about a lot and had a wide range of careers. He had many stories that he often told his children about growing up in California and made sure that they were aware of the history of their family. Bill was an avid traveler but refused to travel by plane and much preferred driving. These adventures often included his children and grandchildren. He supported his children with love and words of encouragement and was so proud of all that they and his grandchildren had accomplished. He had many sayings and always encouraged those around him to help others where they can.

He is survived by his wife Judy Cotter along with grandson Adam Cotter, five daughters, Alison Gries (Mike), Melissa Horton (Cat), Melia Cotter, Amie Cotter, and Whitney Cottersmith (Derek). His siblings, Jan Petty, Michael John Cotter (Cecelia), Michael Boire (Michele), Tony Boire (Sue) and Terrilyn Rahn Lopez (Dave). Bill was blessed with ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his mother, T. Lorraine Johnston and William Edward Cotter and his brothers, Richard Stanley Kacin, James Boire, Scotty Boire, and Sister Diana Teel.

A celebration of life will be held on November 5th, 2022, at Grand Casino Mille Lacs in one of their banquet halls from 12pm to 4pm.
