William Huebner Obituary

Milton, WI - William "Bill" Roland Huebner, 76, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family. He was born on December 8, 1948, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of William Roland and Shirley Huebner. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He graduated from Germantown Washington Union High School, then attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he earned his teaching degree. Bill proudly served six years in the United States Army Reserves and later earned his master's degree in education. Bill met the love of his life, Karen Lee Hill, while teaching at Milton West. Their first date was at a Halloween party, and they were married shortly after. On July 14, 1973, Bill and Karen began a loving partnership that lasted over five decades. They were blessed with three children. Bill dedicated more than 30 years to the Milton School District, where he inspired generations of students as a history teacher at Milton Middle School. His passion for education, storytelling, and bringing history to life left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Bill helped start the Milton Middle School play program, Bill helped create opportunities for students to discover their creativity, talents, and confidence on stage. He was also deeply involved in developing programs such as the Convention, Outdoor Education and organizing student trips to Washington, D.C., experiences that enriched countless lives and broadened students' understanding of the world. Outside of teaching, Bill enjoyed life's simple pleasures - spending time with his family, collecting coins, old cars, and refinishing old furniture. He especially cherished time with his children and grandchildren, watching them play and grow. His curiosity, patience, and love of learning carried through every aspect of his life.

William is survived by Karen Huebner, Jenn Walewangko (Attia, Ireni), Michelle (Greg) Kolinski (Jacquelyn, Alexander, Cassandra) and William Huebner III. He was preceded in death by William Roland and Shirley Huebner and Robert Huebner. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at The Gathering Place in Milton, Wisconsin, 715 Campus Street from 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. The Albrecht Funeral Homes & Cremation Service is assisting the family. Deepest condolences to all who knew him. I can safely say that Bill imparted more wisdom than any other teacher I had in middle school, and not just in terms of world history. He could distill complex issues into things kids could understand, but without talking down to us. That's a rare gift. I remember my first day in his class pretty clearly; I hope someone has his "NO WHINING" placard on display somehwere. He was a mentor beyond the classroom as well; "outdoor ed" remains a cherished bundle of memories from those years. I'm sorry I never had the chance to thank Bill for his stewardship of young minds. I'm eternally grateful.

Some of my best childhood memories are of events Mr. H held at MMS. He was more than just a history teacher and he made a profound impact on his students. My heart goes out to his family, especially Jenn. Sending you all love and hope you find comfort in the stories you will hear in the coming days. Thank you for sharing your Dad with the rest of us.
