Jonathan Stanton Obituary
Jon graduated from Harmony High School the class of 1976. His education continued with business courses after high school before entering the Army. Jon was always an active and social person. He was very intelligent as well as athletic; he excelled in baseball and golf. He continued to play baseball while stationed in Korea where he noted their level of play far exceeded what he experienced in the states. His nomadic nature took him many places allowing him to meet many different people who became new friends and afforded him numerous life experiences.
His most recent home was in Clearwater Fla. where he continued to build his "army" of friends. He particularly enjoyed all his comrades at the Bay Pine VA and salutes all for their service to this country.
Jonathan was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ed and Walt Stanton, sister Jodee Stanton, sister-in-law Kathie Stanton and his faithful cat Skat.
He is survived by his sister "Sparky" Barb (Sid) Wellman. Niece Darbee Wellman. Step-nephew Heath(Natallie)Teeter. Nephews: Trent (Kristina) Wellman, Drew (Lori) Stanton, Asa (Andrea) Stanton. Great niece, Shanley Stanton. Step-great-niece and -nephew; Brayleigh and Hayes, as well as many cousins and friends. He also leaves behind in Florida his faithful companions Jasper (the cat), Dan Ryan and Mike Evans plus many others. His special forever Iowa friends Kim and Joe, Linda, and Dudley.
Many thanks to HEP's Heather Cameron as well as all those in his apartment complex for their many acts of kindness and assistance. May God Bless you all!
Internment of his ashes will be in Bay Pines Va. cemetery.
A memorial/celebration of life will be held at 6 pm Friday, June 6, 2025 in Indian Lake Stone Lodge, Farmington, Iowa.
