Richard Glick Obituary
Denny was born June 13, 1941, in Iowa City, to Maynard Glick and Rosaline M. Fluckiger.
He graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids.
He married Sandra Kay Paul in Cedar Rapids, on Nov. 21, 1960.
Denny served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1960-1964. He worked for the Rock Island railroad, the TP&W, and the Keokuk Junction Railroad. Denny was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Keokuk.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy, of Hamilton; three children, Rick (Ruth Alden) Glick of Valley Center, California, Paul Glick of Hamilton, and Jane (Chris) Von Kiedrowski of Hamilton; grandchildren, Abigail Schwartz, Andrea Alden-Glick, Chad, Corey, Codie, and Alayna Von Kiedrowski; 10 and a half great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary (Ed) Fry of Van Horn, Iowa; and a brother, Mike Glick of The Villages, Florida.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Britcher.
Visitation is at 10 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23 at the Evangelical Free Church in Keokuk, with burial to follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery.

I am saddened to hear of Denny's passing. I worked with him on the KJRY for many years and enjoyed the many tales he spun. This reminds me of a story the late Denny Glick of KJRY and Rock Island fame told me about a weed sprayer train he was working.
Denny was a Rock Island conductor back in the days of 5 man crews so he gave a job briefing that went something like this: OK guys we are going to shove the weed sprayer train down this stub track and SPRAY on the way out to the main.
Instead as the train backed down the weed sprayer crew started spraying, Denny yelled at the engineer to plug the brakes, but it was too late. The train gathered speed down the very slick rails, half way down the siding the weed crew plugged the air but only got a small air pop noise as the pipe was already discharged by the front end.
The whole outfit crashed into the buffer at end of track and wrecked the entire weed sprayer train.
I can only image the reaction of the weed sprayer guys when they plugged the air and heard Phiiifft...
