Frances Presta-Price Obituary

Frances Dorothy Presta-Price

Frances Presta-Price, 102, passed away January 12, 2024, at Belmont Village, Sherman Oaks, CA. Her parents, Joseph (Giuseppe) and Carmella Rosalia Scalise were new to America, having immigrated from Scala Coeli Calabria, Cosenza, Italy. Frances was born March 29, 1921, in Livingston, the fourth of eight siblings.

After graduation from Park County High School, she married Joseph Presta in Missoula where they lived and raised their three children, until his death in 1969.

Fran was self-sacrificing, compassionate, and a loving soul, always willing to help family, friends, neighbors, or strangers. She had the heart of a servant for God. It was through her faith in God that she persevered in tough times and was resilient. She lived a long life filled with love and left a lasting impact on the lives closest to her. She was our prayer warrior. She volunteered at hospitals and nursing homes. Square dancing became a late in life passion. She was instrumental in growing the singles square dance club in Missoula and met her future husband, Stew, at the dance lessons. She considered herself blessed to find love and they married in 1982. They continued to be very active dancers in Missoula and Arizona.

Fran was also preceded in death by her husband, Stew Price; her parents; her son, Robert (Bob) Presta; brothers, John, and Jim Scalise; sisters, Mary Jacob and Dorothy Ford.

She is survived by daughter, Francie Presta Allen; son, Louis (Lynette) Presta; stepdaughters, Susan Slehofer and Joanna (Paul) Smelser; stepson, John (Laura) Price; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; brothers, George (Jean) Indendi, Livingston; sister, Virginia O'Hara, Livingston.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.

I grew up in the lower Rattlesnake with the Presta´s and knew the family well and later became in-laws with Lewis and Lynnette. They are a great family. A very loving, caring, fun, kind family. Spent lots of time at their home as a kid playing and one of my fondest memories of Mrs. Presta-Price is that she would always make us tea. She always made you feel very welcome in her home. She was a very beautiful lady. My heart goes out to the family. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry for your loss. May Mrs. Presta-Price rest in Peace.

I sat with Fran and Stew every Sunday at First Lutheran in Missoula. What a pleasure it was to know her. We also went to Glacier Park together and I often see the picture of Fran and I standing by the Red Bus. Thank you for sharing her with me. Jetta Moon
