Gerald Meyr Obituary

GERALD LYLE MEYR Gerald Lyle Meyr, 63 of Moberly, went home to the Lord on January 28, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. Gerald was born on August 30, 1961, in Moberly, Missouri to Melvin A. and Doris Elaine (Wylie) Meyr.  Gerald graduated from Moberly High School and went on to attend the Moberly Area Community College, the University of Missouri, and Missouri Law School in Columbia, Missouri. Gerald worked for 32 years as an attorney in private practice, various Missouri State agencies, and as an Administrative Law Judge for the Social Security Administration.  Gerald's sense of public service was engrained in him by his parents who were teachers.  Gerald loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, and volunteering at Rock Bridge State Park where he assisted with trail marking and eradicating invasive species from the park.  Gerald was also a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Moberly, Missouri. Gerald was united in marriage to Donna DeYoung on September 23, 2007, she survives of the home.  Also surviving are his children:  Ethan Meyr of Moberly, MO, Emilie Meyr of Guilford, CT, and Benjamin Meyr (Crystal) of Jefferson City, MO, and two grandchildren.  Gerald was preceded in death by his parents. The family would ask in lieu of flowers for donations to be made to the Zion Lutheran Church of Moberly, Missouri, or Ducks Unlimited for habitat conservation in honor of Gerald Meyr. Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation at the Zion Lutheran Church followed by funeral services. Committal prayer and private interment will take place at a later date.
