Benedict Fanelli Obituary

Benedict "Ben" Theodore Fanelli, 83, of Turlock, CA passed away peacefully in his slumber after undergoing open heart surgery.
Preceded in death by his parents: Sabastian (Poppa) and Mary (Momma) Fanelli. Siblings: Steve (former wife Dora) Fanelli, Isabel (John) Nannini, Phillip (Nadine) Fanelli, and grandson Christopher Jackson.
Survived by, his wife of 64 years, Shirley Fanelli. Five children: Larry (Kelly) Fanelli, Lisa (Tom) Maxey, Merri (Danny) Estrada, Sharyl (Curt) Nitta and Michele Millette. Twelve grandchildren: Hunter and Tristan Fanelli, Shanna Magro, Amber, Eric and Angela Rose, Kendrra Thoms, Greg Estrada, Lauren and Paige Nitta, Chelanne and Theodore Millette. As well as, eight great grandchildren.
Ben was born in San Jose, CA, started in the dairy business in his teens then later settled, with his young family, in Ceres, CA on their own diary with a large head of cattle, selling whole milk and cream to locals. Some years later Ben ventured out to a new opportunity at Hypower Hydraulics where he worked as a machinist until retirement in 1996. Ben was an avid duck hunter and fisherman. He and Shirley were very involved in Ducks Unlimited for many years.
As a strong man of faith with a close personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ, Ben and Shirley were members of Eastside Church of Christ and Monte Vista Chapel in Turlock. Thankfully, we can rest assured that Ben is hunting with the angels, communing with God and reuniting with family and friends. Our family is rejoicing knowing that we will see him again.

13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.
14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Dec. 10th at Monte Vista Chapel, 1619 E Monte Vista Ave., Turlock, CA. 12-3pm, Lunch provided. Bring your favorite memory to share. RSVP thru text to 209-620-7861.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make a memorial donation to Ducks Unlimited (www.ducks.org) to continue the preservation of wildlife and/or The JW House of Santa Clara (www.jwhouse.org) which provides free food, discounted lodging and caring, loving support for families with loved ones in the hospital.

Shirley, Vera and I offer our our sincere condolences to you and your family. It has been a long time since we have seen each other, but I still have fond memories of our time together in the Modesto Sons of Italy lodge, especially the time we attended an Italian Night at the Modesto A's. He was definitely the most enthusiastic and the loudest cheerer at that game! Also, I really enjoyed the duck hunts at his elaborate floating duck blind on the reservoir and still remember the two geese he called right into us allowing us to get both with one shot each!
