Oakdale, California - Benjamin Michael King of Oakdale passed away unexpectedly in his home on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. He was 41 years of age.
Born on December 8, 1980, at Castle Air Force Base in Atwater, he would go on to spend most of his life in the Central Valley, mainly in Oakdale. He spent three years living in the Cambridge area of England, where he worked as a barman. There in 2000, he welcomed his first and only child, his beautiful and deeply loved daughter Dana, of whom he was so proud. Returning to the U.S. in 2002, he worked in a number of different occupations including retail, food service, pest control and construction, most recently as a foreman pipe-fitter creating custom fire sprinkler systems all over the state for Cen Cal Fire Systems of Lodi.
It was through this work that in the summer of 2016 he met the love of his life, Chasity. They met on a job site in Redding, CA, quickly fell deeply in love, and never looked back. They were constantly together, and were engaged to be married at the time of his passing.
Outside of work, Ben was an inventor, innovator, and craftsman who loved creating custom projects. He took up blacksmithing, building his own forge and creating custom knives and tools for himself and others. He completed numerous woodworking projects and always had a plan for his next creative endeavor. He loved learning and new experiences, and experimenting with food. His grilling skills were second to none. He always wanted to learn to skydive, and he did learn to fly a helicopter. He loved working outside and growing things, watching Raiders football, taking trips to the mountains and the ocean, traveling in general, and just spending time with family and friends. He so loved his family. Always concerned for others, he tried his best to be a good friend and do whatever he could to help bring anyone, even simple acquaintances, out of their darkness and into a happier life. He will be sorely missed.
Preceded in death by his beloved grandparents. Harvey and Gertie Gist of Oakdale, Ben is survived by his daughter Dana King of Portland, OR, fiance Chasity Dickerson of Modesto, CA, brother Josh King and his wife Samantha of Beaverton, OR, and mother and stepfather Lynn and Marc Bower of Oakdale, CA, along with many extended family members and friends.
