March 31, 1996 - August 7, 2017
Christian Applegate, 21 years old, of Modesto, California went to be with Jesus, being welcomed into heaven on August 7, 2017 as a result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident on August 6, 2017. Christian was born on March 31, 1996 in Modesto, the only child of Richard and Shannon (Jersild) Applegate. He had one semester remaining before graduating from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. Christian attended Modesto Christian from preschool through high school.
While attending university, Christian worked as a warehouse manager at Patriot Logistics in Phoenix. When he was home in Modesto, he worked for Millcreek Construction in Ceres.
Christian was the founder of NTC, New Testament Customs, an offroading club. He currently attended Crossroads Grace Community Church in Manteca, California and Pure Heart Church in Phoenix, Arizona. Christian was involved in various mission trips throughout his life including locations such as China, Estonia, and South Africa. His other travels took him to Australia, England, France, Mexico, and many cities throughout the United States. He participated in baseball, football, wrestling, soccer, and golf.
Christian was a true patriot, following in the footsteps of his Poppy. He enjoyed dirtbiking, off roading, camping, hiking, and spending time with his family and friends.
Christian is survived by his parents, Richard and Shannon Applegate and was preceded to heaven by his paternal grandfather, Neil Applegate of England and maternal grandfather, David Jersild of Modesto. He leaves his paternal grandmother, Hilary Applegate of England and his maternal grandmother, Linda Jersild of Modesto. He is also survived by 6 aunts and 6 uncles, 15 cousins and countless friends all over the world.
All are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life service, held at 2pm on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Crossroads Grace Community Church – 1505 Moffat Blvd, Manteca, CA 95336 and to attend the graveside service held at 10am on Monday, August 21, 2017 at Lakewood Memorial Park - 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326.
Christian's family has created a Facebook Group for anyone to join and share photos, videos, memories that may be used during Christian's Celebration of Life service. https://www.facebook.com/groups/memoriesofchristianapplegate/
The family has received requests to set up a memorial fund as a way to honor Christian's life. This fund will be used to support worthy individuals or organizations that Christian was involved in. https://www.gofundme.com/christianapplegatememorialfund

When Christian was a little boy he would visit with his grandparents and play with my son Cody who was also visiting with his grandparents on the same street. I loved watching our boys ride their bikes and play in the cul-de-sac together. My heart is breaking for your entire family. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time.

Christian was a wonderful, loving cousin to my grandchildren. They loved his playfulness and genuine interest in their lives. Although Christian has moved on to his Heavenly home, he also lives in the hearts of all who loved him.
Shannon and Rich, you gave Christian everything he needed to turn his eyes upon Jesus, and that was the greatest gift you could ever have given him. And because he chose Christ, he's now living the most joyful life that he looked forward to. I know you'll take comfort in the knowledge that we will see him again one day...
