Modesto, California - David passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 16, while on vacation with his family in Huntington Beach, CA. David was born in Van Nuys, CA. He was the youngest of three siblings born to Edmund and Mavis Barton. Their family moved to Thousand Oaks,CA in 1959 where he grew up, attended school and graduated from Thousand Oaks High School. After high school he received a Bachelor Degree from Pacific Christian College. He furthered his education at Talbot School of Theology where he worked towards a Masters Degree in Divinity. His working career began as a youth pastor, and then transitioned into law enforcement where he was a deputy for San Joaquin County Sherriff's Department. The past 20 years he was employed by Salas Brothers Funeral Home as a Funeral Director. His passion in life was to show God's love to his family, friends, and anyone God brought into his life. He served in a mentoring position at the Youth Authority in Ione, CA, at the Faith Home Teen Challenge Ranch, and at God's Way Out at Crosspoint Community Church. His treasure in this life was his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 30 years, a loving and caring father to his children and a doting grandfather to his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Carleen Barton, children Joseph Barton (Jennifer), Jennifer MacDonnell (Robin), and Nathan Gowan (Autumn), three grandchildren Carlee Gowan, Greyson MacDonnell, and Theodore Barton, his brother Robert Barton and sister Patricia Trocino.
