Gary Wiens Obituary

Gary passed away Aug 14, after an extended illness. He was very adventurous, outgoing and hardworking. In 1955 Gary graduated Modesto High School as Student Body President. In 1957 he and Pattie Freitas married and they had two children. He spent 12 years with the Modesto Police Department and left with the rank of lieutenant. After the police department, in 1971 he partnered with Bill's Safe and Lock and opened Security Alarms. Gary enjoyed hiking so in 1994 he moved to Meadview Arizona where he purchased and successfully ran Meadview Market. Retiring in 2003 he continued to hike and travel. Gary's love of travel began in 1946 when his parents loaded Sister Sandy (Sears ) and he into the 1941 ford and traveled the entire United States on ten dollars a day. In 1975 his son Steven and he hiked every step of the John Muir Trail in Yosemite. In 1984 Gary purchased his true love, a beautiful 40 foot sailboat and departed from San Francisco then continued to sail half way around the world. His favorite harbor was located in Finike, Turkey.
Gary is survived by daughter Susan Wiens.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday Aug 29th at 11:00 am located at 5136 Dale Rd.

So sorry to hear of Gary passing. I worked for him at Security Alarms late 70's early 80's. He was straight with everyone, told it like was. RIP Wary B Giens!!
