Herbert Fox, age 86, of Ripon passed away Tuesday, September 29th. Herb was born in Oklahoma and was a resident of Ripon for over 60 years.
Herb was married to Helen for 66 years. He often said his life began when he married Helen and from that moment he was devoted to his family. He was a great father and adored his grandchildren. After retiring from Nestle Company where he worked for 45 years, in the milk, tea and coffee plants, he and Helen traveled. Their favorite place was in the desert where they would host the nightly campfire gatherings for 40 to 50 friends.
Herb was a volunteer fireman in Ripon for 25 years. The firehouse remained one of his favorite places to be all his life. He stayed active restoring the old fire trucks and helping develop the museum. Mostly he loved going to the station to shoot pool, drink coffee and help solve the world's problems.
Herb always loved the neighborhood children. He coached little league baseball, and always had time to help kids around the area. He also enjoyed woodworking and building furniture. Herb attended the Ripon Free Methodist Church.
Herb is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Rachel Fox, brothers, Allen and Paul and sisters, Betty, Gloria and Dorothy. He is survived by his wife, Helen, daughter, Susan (Robert) Cuzzort of Lakeland, Florida and son Gary (Darlene) Fox of Ripon, sisters, Naomi Lingwood of Wichita, Kansas and Violet (Chuck) Nevins of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Grandchildren: Nathan Fox of San Francisco, Melanie (Gabe) Perez of Ripon and Jennifer Smith of Lakeland, Florida, along with four great grandchildren.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapels. A visitation is scheduled for Monday, October 5th, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel. A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6th, at 11:00 AM at the Ripon Fire Dept. In lieu of flowers, donations in Herb's name may be made to Ripon Fire/Ambulance Dept, Community Hospice or charity of choice.

Dear Helen,
I am so sorry to hear of Herb's passing. You both were such wonderful friends to Pete and me when we came to the desert so many years ago. Those were very happy times. My prayers for you and your family at this time for His peace.

Herb and Helen have both been two of my best friends. I will miss him very much. Loved to tease him when we went camping, sitting around campfires telling stories and joking. Glad we got to see him and have dinner like old times, no campfire, just visiting a couple of weeks ago at their home. Love you both. Susan Brown & Neil Paules

So sorry Aunt Helen. Uncle Herb was a wonderful Uncle. He new the fun ways to keep us kids out of everyone's hair at family get togethers. We are older now with grown ones of our own, but I will always have a little Uncle Herb with me.
