Ida McCarthy

IDA McCARTHY JAN. 27, 1925 - FEB. 19, 2008 At the age of 83, Ida passed away on February 19, 2008 at Alexander Cohen Hospice House. Ida was born January 27, 1925 in West New York, New Jersey to Paul Ignazio and Cecilia Caputi. She is survived by her daughter, Kate McCarthy of Modesto, her sons Edward McCarthy of Auburn and Tom McCarthy of Colorado, granddaughters Jennifer McCarthy of Vacaville, and Anika McCarthy- Belash of Modesto, grandsons Andrew McCarthy of Reno, and Michael McCarthy of Hollywood, and brother Mario Caputi of Modesto. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene J. McCarthy, and her sons Paul and Jeff McCarthy. She was a loving wife, caring mother, and trusted friend. She was an excellent seamstress who donated her talents through the Altar Society and Ladies Guild at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres making everything from quilts to vestments. She was exceptional cook. She helped her husband run their farm for over fifty years. She sometimes worked as a teacher's aide at Westport School, and loved working in the fabric department for a local store. When she came to live in Samaritan Village she was known for her humble, gentle way with people. She was deeply religious and enjoyed saying the rosary and attending Mass at St. Anthony's Church. You could always depend on Ida for a kind word and sweet smile. She is much loved and will be greatly missed. Visitation, Sunday Feb. 24th, 4:00 p.m ~ 8:00 p.m. at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel, 419 Scenic Dr., Modesto. The Memorial Mass will be held Monday, Feb. 25th, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 2020 Euclid Ave., Hughson. A memorial reception will be held Samaritan Village, 7700 Fox Rd., Hughson immediately following the Mass. www.modbee.com/obituaries
