Jon Christiansen

1950 - 2026

Jon Frederick Christiansen passed away on January 20, 2026, in Modesto, California. He was born on February 14, 1950, Valentine's Day, to James and Virginia Christiansen. Known as "Jonnie," he grew up on the Carpenter Road family farm, surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who formed a close extended family.



His Modesto grandparents were immigrants from Norway and Denmark, and Jonnie was raised with an appreciation for the cultural traditions they carried forward in their home. He attended Westport School and Ceres High School before continuing his education at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Throughout his life, Jonnie worked alongside his father in the family rental property management business.



At a recent celebration of life, family and friends remembered Jonnie as a gentle and thoughtful soul who loved to read and engage in philosophical reflection. He was a "big brother" figure to his younger cousins and a lifelong amateur astronomer who often studied the night sky to identify constellations. He exhibited musical talent on the piano and guitar, and a quiet charm, which along with his movie-star looks, drew admiring glances from Parisian women on a memorable trip to Paris with his stepmother in 2002.



Jonnie also traveled often to Norway and Denmark with his father and grandfather, maintaining a meaningful connection to his ancestral homeland and many cousins.



The celebration of life was attended by his stepmother, Alma Christiansen, many cousins, two nieces, and family friends, including a classmate who shared memories of attending 1st-12th grades with Jonnie. Stories, laughter and tears were shared in remembrance of a man whose kindness and quiet strength touched many lives.



Jon is also survived by half-sister, Nina Lucille (Burken) Peterson, and two nieces, Dina Bohacek and Sheri Ramsell. He was preceded in death by half-sister, Carole Rae (Cornellison) Byers; a cousin; his parents, many aunts and uncles, and extended family in both Norway and Denmark.



He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
