Larry Wayne Erwin, born on February 13, 1941, in Hanford, CA, passed away on January 28, 2026, in Modesto, CA, after a brief illness. Larry lived in Monterey before settling in Modesto. He graduated from Downey High in 1959 and married Elaine Goulart, the love of his life, in 1960. Together, they raised three children: Robert, Daina, and Randy. Larry worked as a checker at Save Mart and New Deal markets, later transitioning to roles at Wonder Bread and Hostess Cake. In 1981, he and Elaine purchased Shop and Save market in Escalon. After retiring in 1996, they traveled extensively, visiting Georgia, New York, Boston, Amish Country, and Hawaii. Larry was a member of the MAC antique club and volunteered at Kaiser hospital. In 2000, he was baptized at Holy Family Catholic Church and became a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. Larry is survived by his wife Elaine, his son Randy, and grandchildren Robin, Justin, Elizabeth, and Jessica. He is preceded in death by his parents Anne and Chet, and his children Robert and Daina. Services will be held at Holy Family Church, 4524 Tully Rd, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday Feb 24th with graveside burial at St. Stanislaus Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Hospice or the Gallo Center for the Arts.

Elaine, so sorry to hear of Larry's passing. We had spent many years in the Groc. business and he was always a hard charger. God bless you and the family.
